I'm not into small talk and I have trouble making it on my own.

The absolute worst is talking about the weather especially on a normal season day. 

small talker: " sure is hot out there"

Me: "yep sure is" said with a cringed face.  Meanwhile in my head I'm thinking " no rough ridin' crap! It's rough ridin' July".

small talker: "not sure how I'm gonna make it this year"

In my head: " you're gonna deal with it the same way you've been dealing with it for the past fifty effin years" " you're gonna wear shorts, drink H20, and keep your fatass inside"

Also, I love going into detail when people try to have small talk.

Like, "Hey michigancat, how's it going this morning?" and then I just go on and on about my morning pickup game and how I schooled some fools on the court for like 10 minutes and then invite them to play. or "what did you do this weekend?" and dive into every act at every concert and every restaurant and who I went with and what I liked and what I didn't. By then they've gotten their coffee and are gone.

that's why mexicans are better than us (most people are, prolly).  instead of small talk, they do formal pleasantries.  it's super easy.  it feels good and you can do it while thinking of about 16 other things inside your head.

I enjoy small talk, but I hate really generic small talk subjects like weather, how your day has been, etc. I always try to ask a somewhat original question. Also, if someone makes a significant change like getting a ton of hair cut off, I never comment on it, because I bet they're tired of everyone thinking they're the first person to notice it.

My dentist is a talker.  It would be fine if she just talked to pass the time, but she always asks me questions while working.  How am I supposed to answer while she's scraping my teeth and my mouth is filling up with saliva?!  I can't even nod/shake my head without getting my gums poked!

i don't do small talk with anyone who i suspect is only small talking me.  i will ignore them and not respond.  or if i do, i'll just say something like, "can we please just move this along?"

the african chick at l'occitane sucks at the register and always tries to small talk me.  i just mush her dumbass and don't respond.

I travel once or twice a month for work and usually find someone that wants to small talk at the local restaurant/bar, but I sorta feel like that's what people alone do at the bar so I just try to go along with it. But the bank teller was just trying to get to know you a little better so she felt less like a whore after she sat on your dick later. One of those things girls do, i guess.

I had a cabbie small talk me on the way home one night when I was pak'd as crap.  He said he was from Hungary... I asked him if he wanted to come inside and have pancakes with me.  He never said another word.

Exactly one year ago I had a Russian limo driver in Vegas and we made small talk about Rocky 4 and how the Russian got destroyed. Mainly I made small talk about it. the cops were called when we got to our destination. True story.

On the subject of cabbie small talk, DlewGF picked me up at Heathrow last week and on the way the cabbie tried to evangelize her and told her that she "should strongly consider what's going to happen to her after she dies."

 

also, i'm a complete pro at small talk.  especially with middle aged ladies.  they can't get enough of my delightful chatter.  middle aged ladies are my niche.
