I'll take this further....depending on the sport there are 31-34 D1 conferences. we will say there is 32. so 32 conferences x 3 conference champs(football, baseball and basketball) = 96 total conference winners per season. but there can only be a total of 3 national champions per year. so by your theory the 3 natty winners > 96 conference winners because it's a lesser value. see...you all know national titles are more rare because you have to compete against 300+ teams a year to win it, but in big 12 you compete against 10. so have fun winning that triple crown which doesn't mean anything. is the media talking about your triple crown or are they talking about Alabama winning and Louisville winning?

Hey lmj, let's set up a fundraiser for these poor hayseeds so they can all take a tour of Champ City and get a firsthand look at what a national championship looks like.  I don't think they understand that the conference is just a warm-up before the main event.  They're like hamsters who think the world is just a little cage in some 10 year-old's bedroom.  They don't even realize that there's an entire world of national titles and Champ Cities out there.

You're lumping them all together. It's not that we won a conference championship in football/basketball/baseball....it's that we won all three in one year. Statistically, this is less common on a national scale than winning a single national championship. Now, our historical odds would suggest that we're more likley to claim a triple crown since we have done it once...but, overall, the triple crown is a hell of an accomplishment. Considering you haven't even sniffed a conference championship in THE major sport in over 5 decades and your winning totals are subsidized ONLY by players that were around for the first world war, you should really shut up and let the studs do the talking.
