This place has gotten so insensitive.  bringing up touchy traumatic subjects right and left.

It's like Beems intentionally is trying to hurt SD.  Why, Beems?

Guys, I did some research tonight. Did you know 4 teams make it to the Final 4 every year? Every single year. Which means there's been like a thousand of them. But guess what? Only 4 schools EVER have accomplished the Triple Crown. EVER!!

but a national championship trumps that soooo congrats :)

Okay, let me explain this to you like I would to a 5 year old. In baseball, basketball and football, three national championships are given out per year (one in each). So over the past twenty years, sixty have been given out (because 3 times 20 equals sixty). In the past twenty years, a Triple Crown has only been accomplished 4 times. So if one accomplishment has happened 60 times in the past 20 years, and on has only happened 4 times, when one do you think is tougher to do? I, and anyone with common sense, would assume the one that happens less is a greater accomplishment. But if you want to keep pumping sunshine about how important national championships are, I guess I can't stop you.

let me explain this to you...Kstate has been playing football since 1893. so 2012-1893=119 years. lets say they play an average of 10 games. 119x10=1119 total football games with 0 national titles. basketball has been playing since 1902. 2012-1902=110 years. let say they play 30 games/season. 110x30=3300 games with 0 national titles. baseball has been playing since 1897 and has combined 1699-1692-10 record. add those up that's 3401 total games with 0 national titles. so that's a combined 7820 games played between those three sports with 0 national titles. so this year Kstate won the triple crown which totals 1. 1 triple crown > 0 national titles. so by your theory the one that happens less is a greater accomplishment...so then a national title is more rare for Kstate and a greater accomplishment. I'll take this further....depending on the sport there are 31-34 D1 conferences. we will say there is 32. so 32 conferences x 3 conference champs(football, baseball and basketball) = 96 total conference winners per season. but there can only be a total of 3 national champions per year. so by your theory the 3 natty winners > 96 conference winners because it's a lesser value. see...you all know national titles are more rare because you have to compete against 300+ teams a year to win it, but in big 12 you compete against 10. so have fun winning that triple crown which doesn't mean anything. is the media talking about your triple crown or are they talking about Alabama winning and Louisville winning?

Hey lmj, let's set up a fundraiser for these poor hayseeds so they can all take a tour of Champ City and get a firsthand look at what a national championship looks like.  I don't think they understand that the conference is just a warm-up before the main event.  They're like hamsters who think the world is just a little cage in some 10 year-old's bedroom.  They don't even realize that there's an entire world of national titles and Champ Cities out there.

I'll help organize it...they'll be in shock at how many trophies we have.

What's that? I can't hear anything you type because I have too many triple crowns in my ears.

You're lumping them all together. It's not that we won a conference championship in football/basketball/baseball....it's that we won all three in one year. Statistically, this is less common on a national scale than winning a single national championship. Now, our historical odds would suggest that we're more likley to claim a triple crown since we have done it once...but, overall, the triple crown is a hell of an accomplishment. Considering you haven't even sniffed a conference championship in THE major sport in over 5 decades and your winning totals are subsidized ONLY by players that were around for the first world war, you should really shut up and let the studs do the talking.

Your hobby sport accomplishments don't really impress me or many on here.

It's that sort of logic that makes them believe a national championship is more important than a Triple Crown/CatTrick/3MAW, whatever you want to call it. I can't keep track of all the names given to it, since so many national broadcasters have been talking about it and trying to give it their own clever nickname.

I'd gladly take a national title in any of the 3 sports over winning all three in the conference in a single year.

Any of you hawks trying to argue this point are doing it wrong.  They know what is in their hearts, they just like that the 3maw stuff upsets you.  I mean crap, I'll bet fossilized pterodactyl turds are extremely rare, but that doesn't mean they're worth crap.

I'd gladly take a national title in any of the 3 sports over winning all three in the conference in a single year.

aren't you the guy that also thinks people who can write, can't read?
