I spent a few minutes this weekend pulling together an NBA draft analysis for this team over the next couple years. The goal is to show how many NBA lottery picks we have marinating on our current 13 man roster.
I went ahead and broke down all potential 1st rounders as well.
1) Rodney McGruder. The understatement of the year, but in the analysis I completed, McGruder was drafted 98% of the time in the Lottery at pick 8.
2) Non-Lotto - JO. A lot has been made of his bad hands but he's still a 7 footer and is a lock in the NBA 1st round. Look for him to cross the stage and shake hands with David Stern. Before anyone thinks he will.
3) Non-Lotto - Martavious Irving. Irving has proven to be a reliable 6th man and will spend the next years of his career spelling minutes for some lucky franchise owner. My current analysis has him going late in the 1st, to the Knicks w/ the 25th pick.
4) Angel Rodriguez (2014 draft). Lottery - pick #5. Great hands, great vision, great intangibles, great speed, strength, and shooting. Phoenix does hit the powerball when they pick up ART.
5) Shane Southwell (2014 draft). Lottery - pick #9 Detroit Pistons. Shane has the gift of so many nba required skills and intangibles. Great shooting stroke? Check. Great handles? Check. Great defense? Check. Enjoy Detroit Shane, only a 2 hour flight back to JFK when visiting family.
6) Non-Lotto- Nino Williams (2014 draft). 1st round, pick #16 Houston Rockets. Nino is exactly what the Rockets need in 2014 to help them pull the pieces of the puzzle together for them to make a huge push in the West.
7) Michael Orris (2014 draft). Possible lottery, most probably a mid 1st rounder. My analysis shows Orris going to the Golden State Warriors. A huge upside, Orris will surprise a lot of haters next season and extend his early lead as 2014 Big 12 PoY.
Let me know your thoughts, especially if you think I've missed anything.
