Texas fans want no part of watching games against kstate. They are unsubscribing from u verse today in masses.

Such a weak fan base.

Cox just added LHN last week. Great timing :fistpump:

Wait, so you're happy about patronizing a cable provider that helps prop up that joke of a network? No thanks. I'd rather just watch illegally online.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

It looks like UVerse subscribers must have U450 to get LHN.  I don't even think LHN comes with the Sports tier package.

Yeah, I mean I would watch illegally online if there were an HD feed, but WTF cares if their cable provider carries LHN? They also carry about 1000 other channels I never watch.

Did we have to sign off on this?

No, as stated in the article home teams control the 3rd tier rights. You seem to post without reading a lot.

Maybe next time Texas comes to Manhattan to play football, we should just put the game on our network.

Pfffttt... Can't see any of our football games falling to third tier for next 5 years or so. Everybody wants a piece of the Cats.

We should be able to just drop a conference game to tier 3 for no reason at all, just like Texas does every year. Just think of the millions of Texas fans who will pay $15 for a one month subscription to K-State HD.

If we get a network from our broadcast partner with the express purpose of showing tier 3 content I bet they would let us. The comical part of this is ESPN thinks they can bully the nation's largest cable provider and the two biggest satellite providers by making some tier 3 college basketball games exclusive. Its a joke, Time Warner, Directv and Dish are cackling while rolling blunts at ESPN for thinking that KSU vs UT is going to make them GAF.

LHN content is just pure lol.  My favorite is the week following a football loss.  I've got to think that they did fantastic numbers on rebroadcasts of the TCU game.

They did have some decent footage of our Wild Wild Cats following our DP though, which I appreciated.

This network that you all are lol'ing at is a huge reason we aren't in the big east right now.

I just went from U200 to U450 to get LHN for tomorrow night.  AT&T will pro-rate the upgrade, so I will go back down to U200 on Monday and pay around $5 to have U450 package for 2 days.

FWIW, last year: BU at KSU and OU at KSU both fell to Tier 3.  Ben Boyle and Stan Weber called the games on Fox Sports KC, while Wyatt and Matt did the radio.  It wasn't that big of a deal because FSN is widely available to both KSU and OU/BU fans.  This year, none of our conference games were passed over by ESPN or the Big 12 network, but it's a fair bet that some will be in the future again.

Having said that, ESPN had a pretty good idea that K-State would be good this year and that Texas has a massive fanbase that may decide to tune in, so they obviously had to purposely pass on this game to get it to fall to LHN.  In other words, there is some monkey business going on...

Haven't been worried since I remember cc or someone like that addressing this at the beginning of the season saying that local stations in kc would be picking these up as part of some agreement.  Like, KSMO or something.  Just searched all my channels and nothing.  Pretty pissed.  I mean, eff the online bullshit.  We are top 15 and this is a rough ridin' conf game and the majority of our fans won't see it.  If this is the case the AD failed the fans.

I don't think it's a failure by the K-State Ath Dept.  I think it's a failure by the conference to prevent Texas/ESPN from screwing around with the selection process.  A mid-level game like Texas/TCU falls to Tier 3?  Fine.  But ESPN knew K-State was going to be good and had to purposely choose to accept lower ratings on the game by putting it on LHN in an effort to drum up interest in LHN.  A game like this could get pretty good ratings on ESPN (Texas with massive fanbase, K-State with high ranking and conference contender), but instead only a couple hundred thousand people will see it.

None of Texas' Big 12 football games would have fallen to Tier 3 this season or last season if there were no LHN. I don't have any problem with the LHN (other than not having an HD feed for the game) and hope it succeeds, but we have our own network, so why can't we use the enormous Texas fanbase to turn revenues on K-State HD if they can air Big 12 games on LHN that would normally be Tier 2?

It wasn't that big of a deal because last season and the seasons before that there was not exclusivity with tier 3 broadcasts, it had nothing to do with Texas and Oklahoma having access to Fox KC. As a matter of fact you couldn't see games on FSKC if you didn't live in Kansas or the greater Kansas City area. The difference is if your local RSN or whatever you used for tier 3 wanted to broadcast the game if you were the road team the conference allowed that and placed the same restrictions that the home team had. Example being if OU played at KU and it was third tier, OU wouldn't show the Jayhawk Network feed in Oklahoma, they would be allowed to produce their own tier 3 broadcast. Of course the second difference between what LHN has and what traditional 3rd tier broadcasts had is that other teams had the ability to allow streaming of those games.

Also point of clarification. These aren't technically 3rd tier broadcasts as we don't have those for conference games anymore. This is simply a tier 2 exclusive to the LHN.

I can certainly understand why people would be pissed that a K-State vs Texas basketball game is not on a channel that they or most bars even get, and K-State isn't even allowed to put the game on some local affiliate.

Is there anywhere else in KC showing the game? Preferably in Johnson County? I have a spa appointment at 5:30 on the south side of JC and will not have time to get there by tipoff or to get a seat. Anyone??? I have been calling around and having no luck.

Eff Texas. I don't even think :barf: BWW will be showing the game.

BWW in OP is not showing the game.  Neither is Driver's (pseudo KSU bar in old OP).

Kind of expected this. I felt like they were just assuming that they would have it since they always do. They probably didn't feel like actually looking into it.

That's why when you ask them if they have the game, do not ask if they "will have the K-State game," ask them if they have the Longhorn Network.
