The Necktie Thread
« on: February 20, 2013, 09:42:45 AM »
Tell me about/show me all of your favorites.  Solid colors?  Paisley?  Diagonal lines?  Spots?  Diamonds?  Other funky shapes?  Novelty ties like the Texas flag or little Conservative elephants?  Bow ties?!?

Ties are sweet.  Tell me about yours.

I only enjoy about 10% of paisley ties. Most of them look too... old. At least for me.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

See I thought I was this way also until just recently.  I'm beginning to think I might have some real love for them now though.

I wear a lot of ties when i work with delinquents.  I prefer solid colors with diagonal strips (I love solid black ties and purple diagonal stripes to let my inner EMAW out).  However, delinquents didn't respond well to those outfits either.

I have no switched it up and have a lot of vintage ties from the 60s and 70s (found at Goodwill/garage sales).  I've actually noticed a difference in how clients respond which is interesting to say the least.  Novelty ties didn't work (sports ties do though) but I have had the best response from vintage ties.

It's all about audience I guess.

i have a few burberry ties (obviously) and some from the men's collection at halls.  never really wear any of them but- it's nice knowing that, like the suit that accompanies it, i can decimate the competition when wearing it to a wedding or whatever stupid event i'm attending.

Do you have to get the extra long ties?

Lately I've been doing striped shirt with solid color tie, usually black. I feel pretty boss with an all black tie.

Have to wear a tie 4 days a week so I have quite a few different kinds.  Several nice(hermes) pass downs from the old man mixed in with new ones.  Prefer patterns because they match with several shirts and suits.  Also break out the bow tie a couple times a month.  No longer get as many comments as I used to.

I don't think I've worn a tie since high school.  Ties can go eff themselves, i don't like things lightly choking me.

my favorite part of wearing a tie is when its time to party so you undo your top button or two and pull your tie loose. oh man is it time to party

I like the feeling of conflict between a nice, orderly suit, and a tie with an organic design.
