i love the show.

i just find communicable disease outbreak storylines tedious and no fun. It's kind of a tv pet peeve of mine. I also hate trudging through and endless desert with no water storylines, so hopefully they dont do that anytime soon.

they've made it pretty clear from the beginning that this show is about people who happen to be living in a world with zombies.  it's not a show about a some sort of health crisis that creates zombies.

I don't really care if they're doing what they said they would do - the show is either good or it isn't. Would it really be that hard to insert some flashbacks to the outbreak, or give the characters a goal beyond subsistence living in a prison? This does not make for entertaining TV.

They did this during the first season and a half then quit.  I agree with OK Cat tho, I enjoy the crap outta the show.

Right, one of many reasons why the first season was awesome. I think we all agree that the show sucks balls now.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

it seems that overall, people who haven't read the comics love everything about the show, and people that have read them are a little upset.

seems pretty normal in comparison to books/movies and stuff.

i like that it doesn't go along with the comics so that the comic book people can't ruin crap.

I had no idea they were even based off of comics until season 2 or 3, and I'm continually disappointed in the show. Season 1 was awesome, and then season 2&3 happened.

I don't dislike it, as I still watch it weekly, but 60-70% of the show is garbage. The other 30-40% is pretty awesome though.

I was really hoping that last night's episode was going to go in an awesome direction.  Bob is an alcoholic (pointless story-line), Tyrese's anger is going to get him killed, and Rick banished Carol from the prison for killing two sick people.  Thought the Carol getting banished was interesting, but was overall disappointed that this episode was so meh given the last episode ended with a giant herd of Walkers drifting in the direction of the prison and a radio signal.  My expectations were very high for this episode.  It's like I'm waiting in line for a really awesome roller coaster and the line isn't moving  :impatient:

Seems like that should have some ripple effects back at the prison.  Daryl and Tyreese are both going to be pissed.

It was surprising they had Carol agree to leave that easily.

Tyrese would have hammered her head if she didn't leave.

Why didn't Rick and Michone recover the guns/watch from the wayward couple they found?

The dood had them and who knews where he ran off to.  My issue with that couple is that they survive for how long during the zombie apocalypse?  Few people that incapable make it this long.

That is the only way its quasi-believable, but at their age the group would make them pull some weight.  Basically, if we keep running into dumbfucks who haven't been killed in the 2+ years since the apocalypse, its going to get old.  Everyone out there now should be relatively skilled.

You know why this episode was so good?  Because almost none of it took place in the prison.  They need to leave that dump behind in a hurry.  And yes Carol will be back, probably about the same time the prison gets overrun by that large horde of walkers she'll be around to save Rick or something.

Well Marshall Mathers was hurt and the hippie chick he rescued did have a bum leg. They also admitted neither one of them could shot a gun and that they had been hiding from that walker upstairs for 2 days.

If you hide from one zombie for 2 days you probably don't make it 2 years into the apocalypse, just saying.

agreed. they most likely had someone like the "old" Carol watching out for them, not letting them clear homes. I think the writers were just trying to make it obvious that Carol had changed when she suggested to Rick that they let those two help search homes. "Old" Carol would not have done that. "New" Carol was essentially saying, "if you aren't capable of searching a few homes, we don't want you."

I liked the epiosde because now it has finally set some new storylines up.  I also loved it that pretty much the whole episode was outside the prison.  Tyreese is a ticking time bomb that is going to get someone else killed when he goes into his crazy moods.

I also thought it was kind of a dick move by Rick to be a child and lock the door and tell Carol to eff off.  Interesting what happens with her now tho, she is to much of a main character to end her tale like that.

Carol will be back, obviously.

When she shows up, Carl may kill her, for whatever reason he may come up with. Certainly a possibility, given the scattered storylines and his desire to kill.

This episode was better because they were outside the prison.  like others have pointed out.  I want to see what society looks like.

But still, the story just moves sooo slow, tho.  An entire episode was devoted to Carol and the alcoholic doc.  100% focus on micro issues.  no macro storyline.  For those who read the comics, fill me in here - is there no macro, overarching storyline?  Is there no "goal?"  Or is this show just about meaningless, micro disputes within their family unit.

In Cormack McCarthy's 'The Road,' they were following the road to the coast.  post-apocalyptic world.  no hope.  and the coast assuredly didn't hold a better life, but the story flowed a bit better with a context.  Everything that happened was in the course of their journey to the coast.  however small, just having that macro goal in TWD would make this show so much better.  As it is, it's just pretty frustrating.

I don't see that as a story line.  how they react to the illness is the story line.  And, to date, they aren't reacting.  They're just existing.
