so are "techies" just really smart people who moved to san francisco for well paying jobs to match their skill set and "real san franciscans" are butthurt hayseed townies that are mad at the techies for taking "their" jobs and raising rent.

no, the "real san franciscans" are the ones who moved to SF be a writer or something and jacked up the latino rent, now the techies are jacking up the rent of "real san franciscans". I think gays (non-tech) count as real san franciscans, too.

run different taxi/rideshare apps at the same time, I guess. Not sure exactly what this guy's doing, but theoretically a private driver could have a phone for Uber, one for Lyft, one for Sidecar, etc.

I know Uber gives you your own phone that you have to use to drive for them. I think a lot of these services often assign pickups to the first driver that responds, so you're probably most likely to get the pickups you want running multiple phones at once. And you could have one as gps, and one to track your stocks or something.
