How many organizations (people?) in the world can accurately project the path of a meteor?  I have no idea.

If this rough rider had a chance of hitting us, how many people would figure it out?

On the one hand, I think there is no way you can keep that quiet.  But, if it's really hard to figure that out, then I suppose they could.

I brought this up in the chat, but how great would this be if this was all happening in December?  Could you imagine how many people would be freaking out about those Mayans?

The US obviously does.  We have MIT.  The smartest people who have ever walked this earth are currently there, with the best technology to have existed on this earth, so I assume they know, or will.  Will they tell us?  Likely, when it is inevitable.  Our Gov has set up some type of a plan to attempt to keep it from hitting earth.  This is the absolute last thing I worry about because if it is going to happen, can I stop it?  No.

So, party until then.

Ya know, if we have to die, going out in a global catastrophe ain't the worst way.

This. Puts us all in the same boat. The suffering probably wouldn't last long. Over in an instant.

They wouldn't say anything if they knew because it would cause widespread panic and chaos, which would suck if it ended up narrowly missing.  You don't have to worry until all the politicians start hiding out in mile-deep bunkers.

I suspect they won't tell us when they start to move the pols to the bunkers. For pols, "transparency" has its limits.

Ever had the dream you were on a plane and it was going to crash?  IMO, that's the best way to know how you would react in the face of certain death.

The small near-Earth asteroid 2012 DA14 will pass very close to Earth on February 15, so close that it will pass inside the ring of geosynchronous weather and communications satellites. NASA's Near-Earth Object Program Office can accurately predict the asteroid's path with the observations obtained, and it is therefore known that there is no chance that the asteroid might be on a collision course with Earth. Nevertheless, the flyby will provide a unique opportunity for researchers to study a near-Earth object up close.

Quote
Asteroid 2012 DA14 will be closest to Earth on Feb. 15, at about 11:24 a.m. PST (2:24 p.m. EST and 1924 UTC), when it will be at a distance of about 27,700 kilometers (17,200 miles) above Earth's surface. Although this is close enough for the asteroid to pass inside the ring of geosynchronous satellites, located about 35,800 kilometers (22,200 miles) above the equator, it will still be well above the vast majority of satellites, including the International Space Station. At its closest, the asteroid will be only about 1/13th of the distance to the moon. The asteroid will fly by our planet quite rapidly, at a speed of about 17,400 mph (7.8 kilometers per second) in a south-to-north direction with respect to Earth.

Has anyone in the history of life managed to eff something up so bad as that worthless rough ridin' halfbreed in the oval office?  Amazing that someone can destroy everything in his path and even more amazing that stupid rough ridin' motherfuckers would vote for a worthless rough ridin' piece of crap like this and support him.  No wonder we all deserve to die...a country supporting a rough ridin' worthless piece of rough ridin' crap that kills every freedom any citizen has and supports anything his fellow unemployed lazy rough ridin' nogs tells him
