BMWJayhawk, I was right about Naadir Tharpe and you were wrong. See, I copy/pasted this convo from last year so you could see:
All I know is that Naadir Tharpe wouldn't start for Manhattan High. He's absolutely terrible. So small and ugly too.
He is better than any of the guards on your roster, and I'm not kidding when I say that.
He's garbage. I'm dead serious.
You're an idiot who knows nothing about basketball, or sports in general, for that matter. I'm completely serious.
Looks like I was right about Naadir in the headlights Tharpe. Kid just isn't ready for big time college basketball. TT has to play 33 minutes on a bum knee because Naadir can't play with Davidson? Kid is lost out there.
Tharpe has been KU's sixth man this season and is actually having a really solid year. He's shooting 35% from three and 88% from the free throw line, and had a couple clutch buckets in KU's win over K-State. You'll be even more wrong when he starts next season.
Martavious Irving is shooting 40% from 3, he's also averaging more rebounds, steals, and less turnovers than Tharpe while averaging almost the same amount of minutes. Irving is also shooting a higher percentage from the field and is considered a good defender while Self considers Tharpe a defensive liability. In reality their stat lines look very similar with Irving having the slight advantage in most categories. So congrats on being able to start Martavious Irving Lite next season.
Not even sure where to start. Martavious Irving is a senior. Tharpe is a sophomore. The two players are at different stages in their progressions as players. Withey, Releford, and Johnson all played sparingly early on in their careers, and they're starting right now for a team that's 19-2 and top 5 in the country. Tharpe was a top 100 4-star prospect who played at one of the best high school programs in the nation (Brewster Academy). Here's a look at his Rivals profile:

For comparison, here's a look at Irving's Rivals profile:

The truth is that you are talking crap on a player who is making a natural progression through Self's system. Tharpe is having a solid season and is the first guard off of the bench. He needs more work on his ball handling and his decision making, but he's got a really nice jumpshot, and he has the ability to make plays with dribble penetration. It seems like you're one of those people who has a casual interest in college basketball, yet still pretends like they know all about the game.
