Big 12 Scheduling is Poop
« on: February 04, 2013, 06:54:43 AM »
Now that we have a true round robin, it seems that there will be more than enough compelling games for TV in any given week.

Why do we still have to suffer through the ridiculous situations where we play a team twice before we play another even once?

I propose that they play a first half of the season and a second half that are the same, except for home/away changes.

I'm also trying to understand why West Virginia has been on Monday like 4 times this season.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

At this point I'm just glad we haven't been scheduled to play KU twice in Lawrence in the same season.  I wouldn't put it past the league.

Some dipshit on ESPN picked them to win the conference.  What a dipshit (Dana O'Neil).

Could this inaugural Big XII year (football+hoops) have gone any worse, realistically, for couchaggie?

I say no.

I imagine that TV (especially ESPN Big Monday) gets to pick the games they want and when the want them, then the league has to make the rest of the schedule fit, including when teams have a bye week, etc.

ESPN released the Big Monday Schedule (July 25th this year) before the Big 12 schedule was released (August 9th). The OOC schedule was announce July 31st.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. One nice thing about this year's KSU schedule is we play all the tough teams at home first (except Iowa State, and that didn't turn out well), and the shitty teams on the road first (WVU, TCU, TTU).

Yeah, weird request. The conference office goes through hundreds of schedules making sure teams have things like equal number of Saturday home games and not have 3 game road trips, now they have to incorporate travel to and from WVU. As _FAN pointed out they also have national television requests to consider. Having this type of balance on top of other needs unnecessarily complicates scheduling. Would you rather play OSU twice in three weeks or play just 3 Saturday home games?
