I find with monthly's I never switch every 30 days.  Sometimes go 60 or more.  So I always have extras (probably have two year's worth now).  How often do you lose them?  Less than 1 or 2 a year for me.

Congrats on the new peepers, Dlew!!  Yeah when I got contacts my first year at KSU I was almost late to class that morning because it took me like 25-30 minutes to get them both in.  The act of putting something on my eyeball without blinking/freaking out was tough at first.  Trust me bro, it gets easier.

I have monthly contacts that I am supposed to be able to sleep in but if I do then I have to immediately take them out and rinse them off because they make my eyes all dry and gross feeling. They are Purevision. What kind do you guys have that sleep with them in?

When they taught me to put them in, they made me touch my bare eyeball a bunch of times to get used to it.

Ya but I have like 2 years in reserve.  And I don't have to touch my eyes every day.

Before I went off my parents health insurance my mom ordered me a 5 year supply. Literally have boxes of contacts just sitting in my bathroom.

Hey guys let me know if you need me to use a larger font that your dorkstore eyes can see clearly. Good grief. BTW you can use a tiny font for me if you want because I have 20/15 vision and could read it easily.

You know when you guys do that thing where make a post in super tiny font?  Well my stupid computer screen doesn't render it very clearly, but the new iPad does it brilliantly.

I'm blind without my contacts. I had bifocals in 2nd grade and contacts since 4th grade. Before you know it dlew, putting them in will be as easy as wiping your own ass.

I have had 2 optometrists tell me you can safely wear lenses for double the stated wear.

My optometrist told me to just wear them until my eyes start bothering me. I'm on the third month of my current pair with no worries, but I'll probably change them tomorrow just to stay fresh.

Bifocals in 2nd grade? I'm worried that you may be using the word bifocals to mean glasses. But maybe you really had bifocals in 2nd grade or maybe it was hyperbole.

Like if I'm over 30 days I for sure change before big things like vacations and Fiesta Bowls and such.  Not sure that I can see any better in the new ones but just in case!  :crossfingers:

Its weird how the connections in your brain work. When I saw a thread titled "contacts" I thought it would some nugget about the list of people in dlew's phone and how he knows like 16 people named John, and 4 people named Jon, but does not have a single contact named Jim. Didn't even cross my mind it was about contact lenses.

I've worn contacts for 18 years. You get better at putting them in (I still cant do it without a mirror though) but you never get used to them. Mine burn almost every single time I put them in. I don't use the daily disposables, I use the 2 week disposables, Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Advanced, but I don't throw them out every two weeks. I pop them out every 10 days or so for a night and will go right back with them until I lose them or they get too much protein on them.

When I was at K-State I went to an eye doctor across from Nichols on Anderson in the shopping center with the laundromat and the K-State Credit Union. The old guy used to get so pissed that I didn't throw them out every two weeks and give me lectures about them being medical devices and I was going to lose my vision, blah blah blah. Dude was mean, I eventually went to a lady who had her office next to Early Edition, she was amazing, loved her!!!

Oh yeah, also look out for scratched corneas. I've done it twice and it is the worst pain ever. Once I got sand under my contact and the other time we have no idea how it happened. Straight trip to the ER both times, not fun.

I did that once playing basketball, completely contact unrelated, but it was awful.

Acuve Oasis 2! Sometimes when I get very tired I can feel my eyes being dried out and know that if I sleep with my contacts in I'll have dry eyes in the morning, but I've never felt like they get gross. My eyes usually just spit the contact out when they're too old/dry/dirty to be worn anymore, and I put new ones in.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

I got prescribed the Oasis 2's and they were actually drying my eyes out much faster than the Advanced so I had to switch back as soon as I finished the first set of Oasis boxes.
