Angel is my favorite ksu player of all time.

Hasn't eclipsed Pullen, Clemente, or Beaz for me yet.

But there's still time.

beasley is still close. But he's far surpassed Pullen and clemente.
Pullen is by far my favorite. I can't remember ever enjoying basketball as much as I did when he was around.
Luke's stock is rising as Winters continues to validate his greatness. Add Luke and Winters to my list! Also, EMAWBLAST! and Tobias!

needs to be a leader on the floor and in the classroom, last I checked he hasn't made academic big 12 squat

That's valuable time he could be using to work on his 3 point jumpshot.

Deuce nailed it. Priorities, after all.  :)

It's really conflicting that I love Angel so much yet everytime he steps up to take a 3, I cringe.

Comparisons to sophomore year Jake are validated:

He's actually slipped a bit in that comparison; probably because his assist rate is going up (way up) while his 3PT shooting and TO% go down.

I also thought it was cool that all of those names (except Walker; not sure what he's up to) are currently playing professional basketball  :gocho:

Angel is just 13 for his last 57 from 3pt land. He has been playing outstanding ball here of late, so his shooting can be overlooked some.

But it would be nice if he could just hit 33% of his long distant shots.

I keep saying it, but too many of his 3pt misses are because he is 2-3 feet behind the arc.

And he's missing good shots, very few are forced. If he starts hitting 3s and continues his pace with assists and steals, he'll be a lock for all Big 12. In Big 12 games he's 2nd in steals and first in assists and way out in front in assist to TO ratio. And those traditional stats are what most of the people who vote for those things will look at.

the only stat we should be worried about as it relates to angel are his assists.  as long as those are up, his shooting % won't have an effect on the team one way or another.

He made a guy fall down because his moves are so good. He missed the layup after that, but still, it was awesome.

Yep, he's very good right now, but would be great if he starts hitting from the outside.

i don't think angel thinks of himself as a 3 point shooter, and he's not one.  it's a part of his game he'll have to develop.  at this point in his college career he's really just starting to solidify his given skill set (the one he brought to college), at the d1 level.  dribble, dish, drive, creating scoring opportunities for others.

if i had my way, he'd strengthen his current skills today and polish his perimeter game throughout the summer and into next season.  that would be my expectation anyway.

I'm sure he knows that's not his main role, but he still shoots nearly 4 threes per game in Big 12 play. If he's open he's going to let it go. I'm good with that, but it would be nice if he was shooting better than 18.5%. That's not intended to be a major criticism of Angel, but if there is one thing about his game in Big 12 play (besides some of his fouls when they keep him off the floor) its that.

His slow release cracks me up. I mean, they're good looks when he starts his shot, but by the time he rises & fires an hour and a half later, there's prob. someone in his face.

Don't care tho, go #teamangel!

I don't really have a problem with Angel's poor 3 pt percentage because he's not trying to force 3's and he's just so good at everything else.
