This one time at the graduation ceremony all the Med grads whipped out newspapers and acted like they were reading them while all the law grads were receiving their awards.  :D

I would take names and follow the news and defend clients that sued!

also, very awesome no matter which of the two groups you were in

my aunt is a lawyer (University of South Dakota grad) and just bought a 2013 Lexus RX  :dunno:

Oh yeah, well Mrs. Bf is a MD and drives a 2001 Chevy Malibu. Paid for it with cash money.

Oh yeah, well Mr. SK is a student and drives a 1998 Honda Prelude. Paid for it with cash money. :gocho:

Mr. Mikey is a college grad and drives a truck he didn't pay a penny for.   :driving:

When Mr. SK works his summer job he also drives a truck he didn't pay a penny for, granted it has a company logo all over it, but.... hahahahah

Do you honestly know anybody who would have gone to med school if they weren't going to make a lot of money when they got out? I mean your advice to become and ER doctor was financially driven.

What do you want to do with your law degree?  I think that question has been overlooked.  If I were going into law school at this point, I would need to have a more specific goal than "be a lawyer."

I just want to be presented with challenges everyday and argue for them being solved. That may be naive and maybe it is, but that's my line of thinking. Just to be up against the gun, having to be prepared and well versed, having someone trying to make me lose, etc.

For the record, at dinner last night while I was talking with my friend, she said that her first case she was handed 90 documents some of them 400 pages long and had two days to prepare before she was in court. That gave me a huge brain boner. Stuff like that excites me.

something had to have gone horribly wrong for this to happen or she works for a firm that is irresponsible. or she is lying to you about how prepared she needed to be for court that day.

No, that crap happens on the reg. Now, crap definitely went horribly wrong, but it was probably before the you got hired to deal with it (and by "you" i mean the partners who will get paid for your work)

Well yeah everyone expects to be compensated for their work Nuts.  I still doubt your MD friends top motivation was go to med school-profit.

Med students (and in residency) have to deal with too many stupid people for money to be top priority.

I don't think doctors are really any different than anybody else in a high-paying profession. Money is the first priority, and then they just rank high-paying jobs by what they think they would enjoy most and how much time they are willing to spend before they start earning it.

my best friend from high school went to med school, and then turned into a giant douche.

infact almost all doctors i've known are giant douches.

lawyers are usually inappropriate alcoholics, and really fun.

This is kind of my experience, as well. The best is when one of your doctor friends hear somebody even suggest that maybe health care costs are so high because they make too much. Just look at the holier-than-thou butthurt comments in this article.

http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/sunday-commentary/20120727-eli-lehrer-your-doctor-makes-too-much-money.ece

Yes, you had a lot of expenses to pay to go to school, we all know.

I'm going to interject a thought here unrelated (sort of) to this thread. This thread is a large part of why I am a member of goEMAW and why I keep posting. Am I an elite poster? no. But I know at the end of the day, if I have a question that needs resolved, I can bring it up here and get many intellectual responses from many smart people from diverse backgrounds and beliefs. So, as always, thank you all for your contributions to this thread.

Now back to your regularly scheduled broadcast...
