I'd rather hire a great recruiter than promote someone who may become that

I never liked the idea that we had a coach whose name was "Joe Bob."

Are people seriously surprised that a guy who coached and recruited for KU against KSU is leaving for another conference school we compete against?  Really?

Awesome guy, good young coach, very smart, could become a great recruiter.

I'm not meaning to bust your balls, it's just that I hear this crap here (and on gpc) and I want to know why, other than he was a KSU player.  Because if a person with his qualifications (he's been a GA for 2 years and I think before that he was on the football ops side for about a year) got hired from an outside program to KSU, I think people would be like "WTF?!".

Granted, even bob stoops was a GA at some point in his life.  It's just, calling him a good major D1 college football position coach, I don't know how someone would see that given the limited coaching experience he's had.  He could be the next Venzy.  I dunno.

yeah, i'm sure we have much better options.

I hope he gets his meth "problem" under control.  The state of Oklahoma is probably bad place to do that though.

I'm hearing he left because he didn't want to coach under Sean and Sean wants to bring in his own staff.  Announcement coming after signing day.  Anyone else hearing this?

Definitely more qualified guys out there.  But for a young coach, at his level, he's good.  I knew him personally and spent some time with him in a few grad classes, intelligent guy.  Figure it can't hurt to give a young smart guy a shot if the other options are retreads.  I'm operating on the assumption no bad ass up and comers or vets want the job, which is probably the case.

Being ridiculously optimistic, but what if Sean is hired and brings in an all new badass staff with super connected recruiters and Joe Bob left because he isn't badass enough.  :)

My personal opinion is that Joe Bob was beating some kind of posse out of town.   Who knows what it is....does he think he was in bad standing with OB (no one is ever fired, they "leave"), does he think OB won't be around much longer, does he think that we are going to drop off drastically???  I'll bet his reason is one or more of those.

this.  He's also prolly getting more $ too.  It's just another reason bill needs to say he's staying til he dies or they (meaning bill and currie) figure this crap out and come to some sort of arrangement.

Also, he was just a DE coach here, but will be the DL coach there, right? More responsibility, more $, just a guy taking a promotion at a rival company. Happens all the time.

How much of an impact can this blake kid even have at this position? DE is one of the hardest positions to play on defense (other than CB) you have to know your crap.
