The officials were really bad in this game, JO had some stupid fouls but the refs called a lot of little bump fouls on K-State but then wouldn't call WV on the same type of plays. The refs made up it up a few times with some bad calls giving K-State the ball (ex. Will's pass out of bounds that we kept possession of then scored). The thing that bothered me with that is that it still gave WV the advantage because our bigs were in foul trouble & WV would stay out of foul trouble. I would rather a WV player get a foul as oppose to a shitty call that lets K-State get to keep the ball & no foul on WV. That is where Huggins & his players were stupid for not getting the ball inside more to Murray. Late in the game JO already foul out, Diaz is hurt, & Gip can't guard as normal because the officials would call a foul on him.

I could care less if the officials call touch fouls, just call it both ways. Most important thing is K-State won today.

That old ref was the guy at the Sprint Center who was adamant that Sprads wasn't fouled at the end of the first half. I see he has not improved since Christmas.

The goaltending call won the game for us, just like that crappity color guy said it would.

Both sides benefited from comically horrendous calls.  The one against WVU led directly to KSU points.  The other was the five second call against us.  The official counted four with his arm and then blew the whistle.  The mechanic is to count 5 with your arm and then blow the whistle.

Those two calls were simply wrong, there was no judgment.  All of those crappy fouls could be justified by (poor) judgment.

Remember when Sprads threw the ball straight out of bounds, clearly not hitting anyone, and they gave the ball back to us?

Where does the Big XII get it's refs? This is awful. So many bad calls against KSU then the last few minutes make up calls. I'm glad they didn't give a foul on that obvious flop before the end of the half.

The home team procures them.  There are no conference refs (would cost too much is the consensus - for you would have to pay about twice as much per game so these guys would do 5 or 6 games a week).

Mizzou often selected refs that would be intimidated by their crowds (when their fans actually showed up) when they were in the Big12.  Their home refs tended to only work Mizzou homes games, and otherwise Horizon League and other small venues where they generally didn't see more than 5,000 a game.  Thus, when the crowd got riles in Columbia they would roll over and not call a thing of the Tiggers.

this is what it felt like to play us the last few years.

Yeah, but I don't ever remember a game where an opponent got into the bonus for less than a minute in a game.

Yeah less than a minute for the whole game is bad. One game that is close:

http://www.kstatesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2011-2012/ksgame24.html

^K-State was beating Texas by 13 at the half (game was in Austin & Texas needed a win to help get into March Madness). K-State didn't shoot a FT in the 2nd half & Texas shot 48 FTs to K-State's 12 FTs for the game.

This post is completely untrue, take this bullshit to wabash station.  Curtis Shaw, the Big 12 coordinator of officials, assigns officials to games.  JFC how dumb, go away.

Rain, does Shaw assign OOC officials?

I thought home teams at some point in the season at least play a role in procuring officials.

We did not give this one away as much as the refs gave KSU way too many calls/breaks. We still shot 51% from the field and 50% from 3.

The first score of the game was one of the worst calls. Just shoved gipper with his shoulder, then made an uncontested shot for an and 1.

so I had to listen to the 1st half on the radio and I have never heard Wyatt directly address a referee on a bad call.

So was the first half worse than @Texas 2nd half or not?  I haven't had a chance to watch the replay yet.

Yeah, the first half reminded me a lot of that game, if the second half was called that way then we would have lost...and probably bad. Not that the second half was good, but it wasn't buttfuck without lube kind of bad. It was alluded to somewhere else in this post, but the thing about the officiating that really hurt us was our bigs constantly having to play reserved on defense because they were all about to foul out. Whereas WVU got to play balls to the wall the entire game without any thought of foul trouble. Oh yeah, and the free throws thing. Although they couldn't make theirs, which helped.

College basketball officiating has gotten rediculously bad over recent years.  It's rough ridin' atrocious and I cannot believe something isn't being done about it.  You just want to strangle those effing idiots after nearly every possession.  I remember telling my son recently that you know how bad officiating has gotten when Higgins is the one in charge of make-up calls.

I can't even hardly stand to watch a game any more, and am pretty sure my doctor would not like what it does to my blood pressure.  Between shitty officiating and not having a guard that can hit an uncontested 3-pointer or a big man that can make a layup, I'm pretty sure I'm getting close to having a stroke.
