Hoiberg thinks Huggy should have just fouled Texas......LOL.... (UT down 3 with 5.6 sec left.... UT drilled a 3 to force OT)

OK, so fouling may have been more difficult for WV there, but you have to switch every pick in that situation.   UT ran pick and there was no switch, and the screener (Holmes) came open and had a pretty decent look.

Are there numerous examples out there of teams fouling and then it not working? I mean last night we have 2 examples in the Big 12 where not fouling down 3 leads to OT.

Yeah, that one I remembered... and we still won.

I'm especially trying to think of times where teams lost the game or went on to lose the game. I remember hearing about one high school game where the team fouled up by 3 and then the opponent made a FT then tipped the miss out for a 3 to win, but I don't remember other examples.

ISU looks good. They are going to be tough to beat.

Nope, they'll finish lower half and will be a 3 seed in the NIT.

Not trying to argue here or anything, but IMO if the ref calls the foul on Denis we win in regulation and beat Butler, too.

Beat Butler, not 100%, but a better chance.

RPI is about 63 right now, only 1 bad loss (Iowa), they'll be tough at home (so they'll get some top 60 wins, KSU, OSU, Baylor, OU), and have enough that they can beat one of those teams on the road.  we'll see.

Butler was tie game with 3 minutes left.  We were drained.  Shot 39% from the field that afternoon, only 50% from FT.  Team was dog tired.

Guys, let's face it. If that dumbass ref does his job and blows his rough ridin' whistle on Denis, we win the national championship, Frank is still coach and recruiting better, and we are gearing up for another national championship run this year. It's 100% and we should just find that rough ridin' ref and give him what he deserves. And that's a good ass kicking.

Agreed, we'd played a pud Michigan State team and a Duke team that dodged a last second shot to win it. Ok, maybe we don't win it all but that 3OT game cost us a lot.

Okay so you don't agree, good.

The game was not tied with three minutes left.  I think the fatigue of the team is much more attributable to working as hard as they did to come back in the Butler game than the few extra minutes of basketball 2 days before.

Playing those overtimes against Xavier certainly didn't help us but to say we would have won is absurd.  Butler went 2-1 in a span of 4 games against 3 of the 5 best teams in the country using the exact same formula, it worked against us just as it did against Syracuse and very nearly Duke.  Michigan State had no chance, Butler was better than them in all facets.

i think the xavier ot's took more of a mental toll than a physical one. i do think we would've had a better shot at winning if that game didn't go into overtime. it was all people could talk about and think about for two days. greatest game ever, etc and such a feeling of accomplishment like they really had just won something that i think there was  little bit of a let down. win in regulation and thoughts are immediately on the next game. who knows though. prob still lose.

The Butler runs are the equivalent of 2011/12 KSU football.  Its consistency, execution, and not making/taking advantage of opponent mistakes.  A million teams think they should've beat them but they consistently couldn't.

Yeah, about that...

Quote from: ESPN play-by-play
3:35   Matt Howard missed Free Throw.             54-52
3:35                                                            54-52    Rodney McGruder Defensive Rebound.
3:06                                                            54-54        Denis Clemente made Two Point Jumper.
2:49   Gordon Hayward made Two Point Layup.   56-54

They did that, but they did it with 2 NBA draft picks, including a lottery pick.

Also, someone was trying to tell me that Butler's team that year was less talented than ours.  I think the top 10 draft pick and the 246 NBA games that Heyward and Mack have played in compared to the zero NBA games our team's players have played in contradict that opinion, but who knows.  Maybe all the real talent plays professionally overseas these days.  Wait, Howard and Veasley did that too?  Hmm...
