A quick question for KCFD
« on: January 07, 2013, 03:50:39 PM »
I know maybe a dozen or so firefighters. And with the exception of a wedding once, I have never seen a single one of them wear any shirt that does not indicate that they are a fireman. And every vehicle they drive has a FD sticker on it.

Are you guys contractually obligated to represent your department at all times or what?

Personally, I always thought it was about picking up chicks but most of the guys I know are married now.

does this extend to shower/pool time, or is there a "when dry" portion of the contract?  Could get pretty weird.

yes a lot of guys where FD tshirts around because they think it makes them look badass and people will respect them or something like that. I don't know, seems weird to me. I mean if I'm an accountant I'm not going to wear a shirt that says "ACCOUNTANT" on the back. ya know? I have seen guys wear them to bars and have ladies flock to them, so maybe there's something to it, I'm not a douche so I've never tried it.

I wear work shirts at work and that's pretty much it. maybe if I'm working out or something. You'll never see me just wear one "around"

I do however have an old KCFD hat that I wear a lot. not because it says KCFD on it, just because it fits me well and is kind of out of habit. but again, I don't wear hats all that often. so there's that.

Can confirm non-college chicks love firemen. like LOVE them. I don't get it, but most guys soak it up. then again most guys on the job are also not college educated. luckily my lady is a big time advertising person and went to college, as did I.

Don't know about the teacher situation, dated a teacher once and she seemed to hate my job, so  :dunno:

(the car sticker is most definitely to avoid tickets, or I just flash them my badge and ID, works every time)

If you were to "lose" that badge around me, I would pay to have a new one issued...

A friend of mine (college graduate, non-teacher) married a fireman.  They actually took some of their wedding photos at the station.  I'm guessing she digs his job.  Also, how many accountants do you think take wedding photos in their office?  Maybe in front of a stack of paperwork or something sexy like that?

that's a good idea, would be pretty sexy. maybe in front of the copier or some big ass calculator or something?

most of the guys I work with married hair dressers or the like.  :blindfold:

Thanks for your answer, KCFD.

It would be pretty bad ass to get married at my office. The preacher could set up right next to the basketball goal.
