Good solid veteran before he retired, he was traded to allow Vancouver to draft both Sedin twins.

You guys!

Coyotes’ kids are beyond alright: Duclair notches first hat trick

And a Mike Smith shutout at the Ducks :excited:

Congrats MIR. I haven't got a chance to watch a Yotes game yet this season, but the young guys certainly sound exciting.

When you get a chance to catch a Blues game keep an eye on Parayko. The kid came virtually out of nowhere (3rd rounder, played his college hockey in Alaska, very little hype) and has been extremely impressive.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting him, but mom and my sister have and say he is a great guy. 11 year old SdK was jealous of him. Roberta is/was a dime.

Got pretty pak'd at the Avs game last night. Bruins killed them, but it was enjoyable as always.

P.S. They did one of those 3d video things (like the Cleveland Cavs did/do) on the whole ice during pregame, and it was rough ridin' awesome.

This is probably as good as a time as any to re-name the thread "2015-16 NHL Hockey Thread: Tracking the Stars path to The Cup".

All you need to know about the Stars is that Benn has 17 points on the season and is still only a +3.

Get about 5 better defensemen and we'll talk.

I'd certainly feel comfortable with a four point buffer from first to out of the playoffs with 72 games left to play.

Yea, especially when they've only played one other team from the Central so far, and it was a 6-3 loss to Colorado.

Your knowledge of offseason moves is embarrassing at best.

Another swing and a miss...

They are most certainly helpful, however the combination of their addition along with moving Klingberg permanently to Defense from Forward along with adding 3 people with their name on The Cup to the lockerroom that already houses two of the top 5 scorers in the league should be more than adequate.

Drops mic.

But yet somehow the defense is still bad.

Again, let me point to Benn and Seguin. They have point totals already of 17 & 16. Fantastic offensive numbers through 11 games and no one is arguing that they're not one of the best C-W combos in the league. But also through 11 games, both have a +/- of +3. There's plenty of flaws with the +/- stat, but in this instance it is pretty telling. They each have 5 PP points which means they have 12 & 11 even strength or short-handed points, respectively. That means 8 goals have been scored with Benn on the ice and 7 with Seguin. If that pace keeps up, Dallas will allow opponents to score nearly 60 goals while their top forward line is on the ice during the regular season. That is not the sign of being a good defensive team.

Don't get me wrong, Dallas is dynamic offensively, and fun to watch, but they have a lot to prove before even being considered Cup contenders. The Central is going to be a dogfight this season and at least one really good team will miss the playoffs. Chicago, Dallas, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis, Winnipeg- one of these teams is missing the playoffs and 10/11 games into the season there's no one really separated themselves from the rest.

Not arguing any of that... We basically have a new team learning to play together with the offseason moves. That notwithstanding, the Stars (despite being a "shitty defensive team) closed last year on a 14-6 run and were one of the hottest teams in the league LY as they just missed the playoffs.

Starting off 2015-16 at 9-2 with a team still learning to play together is very encouraging, especially since we just keep finding ways to win night after night. As an STH, it's been fun so far and will continue to be fun to be at the AAC for the remainder of the season.  I should probably apologize in advance for how insufferable I'll be during our playoff run. ;)

I may turn out to be wrong, but this team has "that feel" to it.
