Rodney: ESPN player of the week
« on: January 06, 2013, 11:33:28 AM »
Didn't open all the threads to see if I'm EMAWziluked, but http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/71862/player-of-the-week-rodney-mcgruder

Only downside is the talk of second place in Big 12, pfffft

I bet he doesn't get the conference POW, will be hilarious considering the two he's already won.

And Smart gets ROW while going 0-2.

I feel like that’s the exact look I would have given had I not seen that gif and began laughing.

I love Rodney, but he doesn't exactly go create his own shot a lot. Now, he gets shots off of screens and picking up trash, occasionally gets shots on his little driving 10-15 footers, but he isn't exactly creating his own shots a ton. I think the comparison would be with Marcus Smart, that guy can go out and get his own shot.

I think most of you know exactly what oscar meant though.

Who does he think can step up and fill this need?  Lebron?

 :dubious:

The most obvious choice to create (for himself or others) is Angel. I think Rodney can do it a bit (see penetration and kicks to Nino), but has limitations.

I don't think we really have that guy, but most teams in the Big 12 don't.

marcus smart is a lottery pick. 99% of college basketball teams don't have a marcus smart, so i don't think that is the comparison. i also think you are bad at comparisons.

Ya, Pulls created his own shot all the time. I bet Rodney got a lot of confidence after this game.

Meh, each comparison had flaws, but the point of each comparison can be easily understood. Doesn't mean you have to agree.

"He obviously had a special game. He's the face of our program," K-State head coach oscar Weber said. "It's probably been him and (Kansas super freshman) Ben McLemore most of the games, I guess. Other teams might have a little more balance whereas we have a couple star-power guys. I'm not sure."
