Moving to Alaska
« on: December 21, 2012, 01:19:38 PM »
I think I might. Pros? Cons? I'm basing this all from watching the latest Bourne movie right now and every time I go to my "happy place" during meditation or relaxation, it is in a cabin the in mountains.

I love snowboarding, hard work, snow, working outside, life, and fun. Should I stay or should I go now?

You should probably watch 30 Days of Night before you make your decision.

are you depressed sometimes? if so, you will probably kill yourself in the winter time. so take that into consideration. on the bright side I think every resident receives a small check from the state each year for some reason.

Would love to live in a cabin up in the mountains but only if I had internet and TV. Would probably choose Colorado or Montana over Alaska though.

I do get depressed sometimes. The caveat to my happy place is I'm always bundled up next to the one I love. Thanks for you input SD. Prime points to ponder.

In Colorado, it was -28 on my way to work today.  Go into it knowing that -28 happens.  I turned down a job offer in Alaska before.  I figured it would be a huge pain in the ass to ever see anyone not in Alaska ever.  If you hate the people you know, I would do Alaska

It's dark for like 30 straight days in Alaska and very cold. Maybe you should consider just purchasing a summer home, Sundance Pound Sterling Kid.

I prefer cold to hot, so temp isn't really an issue for me. Siberia has always been sexy to me, so Alaska may be it for this cat. Maybe I could work on a crab boat and snowboard the rest of the year?

NK, I'm not sure why the pound sterling is there, but I dig that you typed it out

FYI maybe and may be have always been interesting to me.

why is it sexy? I get the snowboarding in summer part. I'm talking about the rest of it. seems more, like, boring and cold and dark and stupid. I mean, unless you live in Anchorage, but that seems to defeat the purpose.

Idk, Sundance Pound Sterling Kid. Alaska's behind everyone on the mainland. Do you really want to be able to luke any harder than you already have?

The answer is yes. Move immediately.

seems like the men-to-women ratio in alaska might not be in your favor.  are you ok with being single forever?

You can get a job at a cannery for about $60K a year and eternally smell like fish guts.
