Why Do People Freak Out About The Idea Of A Global Government?

Not a big fan of the idea because I believe most decisions should be made on a local level(#10).

Just think about the us of a. We are all americans but people in the texas have different priorities than people in new york. If you have a world government there would be riots all over the place...

New japanese president? Riots in china.

New saudia arabian president? Riots in iran(and probably europe and the south just because he is muslim).

New american president? Riots everywere because those dam americans run everything.

In summary it wouldn't work because if a government wishes to succeed it must unite all of its people under a common banner.

I doubt it is possible for Anarchy to exist outside of a temporary situation between governments. 

I hate to sound like a broken record, but the American model, if implemented world wide, would be the best bet. 

Sovereign nations voluntarily entered into a union of smaller regional governments, with smaller areas inside of them, with the scope of government power inverse to the size of the area/ population it covers.  Free-trade, no alliances, only defensive war, no standing armies, the bill of rights, the whole gambit.  If the globe would adopt this idea you would basically peace. Nations wouldn't be guaranteed prosperity, but each, and the people living in them would have the freedom to take care of themselves. 

In reality there will always be thirsts for power and nations using aggression and isolationism against others or their own citizens.

Impractical.  We can't even agree on accounting standards with European countries.   

I mean, there aren't "negatives" other than humans hate each other and can't get along.  Think about pushing through a highway bill but Uganda is holding it up.

yeah, it will take some time, I don't think it's practical to just start today or anything like that. I'm just curious why there is always outrage about the idea of it every time we take another step towards it.

I don't think we will in our lifetimes but I bet we see global currency in some form. paper/metal money is on the way out which was one of the barriers. there will be weird outlier countries that don't participate of course.
