Good question, not sure, too early to tell. It seems like more than nothing though. In an effort to get everyone on his side from the jump, tang might have over promised at the initial press conference.

I'm not a coach for a living, but when Tang was hired I certainly didn't anticipate that basically the entire team would transfer.

Looks like it didn’t even take 2 years to turn on Tang.

Discussing what the staff is saying publicly and how it makes you feel is not turning on someone. The message seemed to go from we are elevating and we are getting dudes to we want to be careful who we bring in and they need to be the right fit pretty quickly. Pretty slth talk the last week. Does it actually mean anything? Who knows.

i don't think Tang regrets anything he said but the "it's not going to take long" comment at the presser might feel a little silly for a couple years

I thought he was a bit bold in his presser about a quick turnaround but I didn't doubt his sincerity.  Even with Pack in the portal, I still expect we'll bring in more talent than we lose in the portal.

I really want that first domino to fall though.  I think if Tang can get one decently high-end player, he can really sell being a part of something new and exciting in Manhattan.  Getting that first quality player to commit to a new coach and an almost empty roster is going to be a challenge though.

there shouldn't be angst, but it's a minor KITN because it was reported he was going to visit.

It's not going to take long better be the mantra of every college basketball coach, even at mid and low major school. If he came in and talked about some long rebuild fans would rightfully freak out.

yeah that's kind of exactly what i was trying to say. he said all the right things, all the confident in him long term on my end. i just think there may be more 'rebuild' here than we all wanted at first. but who knows. could snag a bunch of transfer studs that we aren't aware of yet in the next month.
