I mean we basically already locked down another top 150 guard for next year, so the 19-21 classes should net enough talent to make for a few years of good basketball

I really don't want to be that guy, I'm happy with the class, but have you seen the offers of our signees?

I predict by March 2023 we'll have a greater appreciation of what Brown, Wade, and Stokes accomplished.

Our class is good enough to compete but not good enough to do it right away.  It'll pay dividends in 2 to 4 years.  oscar has success and recruits at the level of a pretty good mid-major.  It will continue to be cyclical unless we keep some JUCOs or get transfers.  I would've like a transfer in this class so we can burn the sit-out year while the team isn't competitive, but we also weren't an attractive destination.

Nuance is something, huh? I'm pissed that Weber was allowed to run another complete team off. Either be better at identifying targets for your crap offense or be better at coaching them. He did neither and got a pass. People seem to be fine with him doing this again because the first time he did this, it yielded Brown, Stokes, and Wade. I don't think there is any way this class yields a conference championship and an elite 8 and the goalposts for measuring oscar's success will change again. People are already making excuses for how bad the team will be next year. If you sign a top 15 class there is no way you should be having a terrible season.

a large segment of our fanbase has decided to measure oscar on things that don’t appear in the W/L column and that changes how his success is defined.  so ya we didn’t struggle this year or won’t next in their mind’s eyes

I don’t agree with the premise of signing a top 15 class translating into instant wins, there are several examples every year of that not panning our. I think he should and would have been fired at the end of this year had the pandemic not happened because I see another 4-14 type conference season again.  His 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes were inexcusable and put the program in the position we are now.

Being realistic about this class, I think there's alot to like. Selton and Pack are my best bets at being future stars, tho I could see Selton potentially going the Malek Harris flameout path too (~20% chance this happens, imo). Kasubke will probably have a similar development arc as Will Spradling - small improvements every year, maybe you find stuff to nitpick at because he's white, but the overall product isn't as good when he's on the bench. I could see Bradford being a total flameout just because our staff can't develop a traditional post player to save their lives. The other guys will all get Bruced, except for maybe one rando who is a complete DITR.
