I've never seen so much pride in a public pool before.

have you been there?  it's the size of a city block.  that's pretty awesome.

they used to bathe the elephants from the zoo in it.  how awesome is that?  (awesome)

It's much less awesome now.

Probably still smells like elephant crap.

My hometown doesn't have a public pool. We have a rock quarry for swimming.

Man... I have never seen more evidence of how boring it must be living in western Kansas.

What plans have the town council made to keep the people from Horton out?

I don't think the people of Horton have the means to traverse that kind of distance.

In fact Eisenhower was born and raised there, how many other Kansas towns produced a US president?

Abilene is home to one of the Wonders of Kansas:  the Brookville Hotel.  Great rough ridin' chicken!  No menu!  You eats what you gets!

I think if you look at facts you can't deny Abilene this honor.  No other town in Kansas has spawned a Fortune 500 company, a US president, one of the Wonders of Kansas, athletes for K-State, and stories of old gunfighters.  Not one.
Eisenhower was born in Texas and the Brookville Hotel was spawned in... Brookville.

Edited to add: Brookville Hotel has only been in Abilene since 2000.

So eff Abilene.

What's that small county that brags about drinking more ancient age bourbon than anyone in the world? That sounds like a pretty cool place.

I vote Meade. SD is quite convincing.

I would like to give honorable mention to Council Grove for my childhood cabin on the city lake, and if course Washunga Days. Also loved getting ice cream at the Apothecary.

Then again I always had my return to MHK to look forward to.

But the people that leave are really dreamy!

Edit, I just realized that you tried to lump Marshall and Nemaha County people into the same category. :curse:

Does the lake quivira arch on the last picture give you any clues?

Lake Quivira is a great town if you only want to live among the  :opcat:. That gate? It's to keep the brown people out, unless they're tending the lawns or catering something.
