TSU: PP/NN Two Former Natty Champ Runners-Up Face Off
« on: December 18, 2012, 11:01:48 PM »
Peggy Po's

Rod looked like Rip  This was nice.  They ran the same play for him all first half, and he hit a bunch of free throw line shots, a few leaners etc.  He was open more than he even got, they had mismatches several times on bad switches to get him in the post, but the players are not comfortable enough with the offense to improvise or take advantage of matchups that is not built in to the basic movements that they are familiar with.  This was a good performance.  However, Rod only took 1 3ptr which is a problem. Already going Nancy on the Pegs! :sdeek:

He put that butt up on yo hip, When I Gip you Gip We Gip  Besides the free throws, he played about as well as he can.  I know, I know undersized team bleah bleah whatevs. keep it peggy.  Boarded, played D, just a very nice perfomance.

DJamer now that Nino is out of the picture, DJamer should be playing more, but he isn't.  So that makes me sad, which brings us to........

Nancy Negs

Those hard hedges were awful  oscar must've shown them about 2 minutes of KU tape and turned the concept loose.  I have no other explanation for what I witnessed.  There should've been at least 4 nasty, nasty dunks on those.  Fortunately half of the layups we surrendered were missed by this completely outmatched, now 1-10 basketball team.

Our guard play was terrible  You would've thought those two 5'9" guards they threw at us came from Curtis Stinson and Allen Iverson's baby's mommas.  Angel looked as bad as I've ever seen him.  Will looked like Will.  Tay looked terrible.  He got outquicked on defense several times and he, Tay and Will got absolutely embarrassed by #14.  I mean he put on a show.  He isn't Sherron Collins, but sure could've fooled me by his line and the ankles and chins that took a beating with all the crossover step-back 3's he rained on our ass.  It is terrifying how bad we look if Angel is not on.

Shane Southwell  I don't get it oscar.  Nino gets injured, DJamer is right there ready to step up and you opt for Shane.  Shane comes in, does Shane things for 2/3rds of the game, then starts hitting a few shots and makes a really nice bounce pass on the break.  Meanwhile he spent most of his minutes, slinking around, blaming Tay for a ball he threw away on an in bounds, getting attitude, and being a bad teammate and he gets rewarded.  This is his reality check?  He chucked up more 3's than Rod.  He had more shots than Angel and (yes) Will combined.  What in the hell?  What are you doing?  Is he seriously starting against Florida?  Is that your stroke of genius?  Just stop.  I don't even know what to say.

Adrian Diaz  No.  Just no.  6 minutes was 6 minutes too many.  I will never, ever get those 6 minutes back and neither will DJamer.  He is lost on both ends of the court, he took a freaking 18 foot jump shot that he apparently believes he has the green light to take (Shane Southwell school of self-esteem graduate) and can't rebound or play defense despite being a foot taller than his opposition.

JO  I don't see him doing anything this year.  He is as bad as he's been since he first got here.  He should be picking and rolling with Angel, but he's not.  He should be slipping screens and cutting to the rim, but he's not.  He is instead getting the ball on the block and doing stupid JO post moves, or getting the ball on the wing and trying to face up.  What in the hell?

We are going to get crushed by Florida.  Anything within 10 first half and within 20 by game's end are moral victories to be savored so long as McGruder plays well.

I would want him close to me on the bench.  I would sit on his lap if I was coaching.

couple other things:

the entire place was empty, even the floor seats.  So they now have started getting people to fill in the floor seats which otherwise would be half empty.

eeerily similar to the Nick Russell freshman bounce pass for a fastbreak slammer that had people buzzing around Manhattan that Nick Russell just may put it together and be a big time contribby.

I feel exactly the same way seeing that as I do when I buy a bag of powdered donuts and destroy them in like 3 minutes.  Instant excitement, followed by dread and regret.  Shane Southwell is our swag.  Process that.  Compute that.  Savor that.  It is a brackish drink to swallow my friends.

nancy neg- will is more infuriating to watch in person than he is on tv. at no point in time during the entire game did i feel like he was about to do anything meaningful in any way, shape or form. he's like a slow boring basketball robot computer that runs on three double AA batteries and a controller with two broken buttons.

other nn-

during timeouts often times head coaches will consult with their assistants and then take the observos from each specialist, craft it in to an overall message for the team.  Frank rarely did this, so it was especially jarring when oscar huddles with his staff and they essentially yell and whine and complain at him, then oscar heads to the huddle.  Very weird.

I like the way DJamer looks on the court.  And he's got some good ORB#'s.  More athletic Ron Anderson IMO.

If JO could get his crap together I would like to see starting

Angel
Rod
Shane
DJamer
JO

That's like, my opinion though

I would start Gip ahead of JO or DJamer.  If JO is a must, then Gip ahead of DJamer.
