gotta agree that JO is lost. why did people expect him to be good in the first place? In my opinion here is are the pros and cons of JO:
pros:
solid rebounding,
plays hard(disregarding parts of this season),
experience
cons:
bad jump shot,
bad foul shooting,
strength/athleticism are average at best,
poor understanding of offense,
unskilled/uncomfortable with back-to-basket (as MiR pointed out),
fragile emotionally and easily frustrated/discouraged
Diaz is the same player, only weaker and more inexperienced...although he is a slightly better shooter. Realistically, our best F/C is a 6-8 freshman. What this all means for our swing offense is that we can't score because our big guys can neither create high percentage shots inside nor step away from the basket and knock down jump shots. If we had good perimeter shooters to take some pressure off Rodney, we could design a system around that. However, Angel shoots poorly(<35%) while Will is only mediocre(37%).
