lot of l90'smiq going on in this thread.

Rank your top 3 bands (not artists, bands) of the 90s.

My list would be:
1. Sunny Day Real Estate
2. Alice in Chains (yeah make fun of me whatever)
3. Dinosaur Jr.

Whoa. no. 1 and 3 are great picks.

honestly don't know who would be my top 3. would require some serious thought. speaking of Dinosaur Jr., I just saw them in Denver a couple months ago. Was awesome.

Amazing.  I didn't discover them until the mid 2000s

FWIW, I can't see Paul pulling this off.  Will end poorly for all involved.

pretty sure that a good musician like paul could pull off any musical style.  if you've got it, you've got it.

i don't think the point of nirvana was musicianship. thats where i see a disconnect.

LOL. yes, b/c nirvana's songs really did some interesting things with song structure.

I meant vocally.  Just because he can sing doesn't mean he can do so in place of Kurt Cobain.

how does one compare Salt N' Peppa to Slowdive; 2 Unlimited to Sonic Youth; Ace of Base to The Pixies?

which part?  The Beatles had plenty of screamy songs.  He won't be growly/whiny, but that's ok.

at one point in time i actually thought the members of abba had frozen themselves only to return to as ace of base.
