Real barbershop for me . . . warm towels, warm shaving cream, straight edges, the works.

The only way to go.

How far in advance of a big event do y'all get a cut? Gotta give it some time to grow out of the awkward stage.

I have to get mine cut a couple days in advance.

My hair is crazy thick(have broken the stylists clippers on two occasions  :gocho:) and grows really fast.  If I go more than 2 weeks I basically have to wear a hat from that point on.

I usually give it 3 or 4 days. my hair is pretty adaptable and fantastic though so i can swing a day-of if i have to.

What about for your wedding? Is that going to be a game changer, maybe like a full week in advance??

if it's curly, then it's not standing straight.  i really hope that helps your completely dumb ass.  maybe a better approach would be to shave your head and get a "i'm a complete dumbass" tattoo on each side of your scalp because then people would know not to try to have a rational discussion with you.  i'm not sure though, if that would help.

Did you even read what you quoted? JFC clams I really need help here, not some illiterate do-gooder who can't diagnose the problem to begin with.

Let me put it this way. If there was a Venn diagram made up of a curly circle and a my hair circle, the circles would not intersect at all

Maybe a Venn diagram describing your hair would help clams (and myself) understand better.

Clams, would you consider yourself a visual learner?

Getting a cut tomorrow. I'm a devilishly handsome fella, but my hair is slacking. What do I tell the barber to make me look like Justin Timberlake?

Say nothing. Take a few pics of Timberlake with you (no doubt downloadable from the net).  The barber will then know what to do.

Just brave it out.  Then, remember everyone who gave you crap and rub your beautiful long locks in their fat faces when you get the length you want.

Do you guys like going to the legit barber shops complete with the red, white and blue striped barber pole thingies?  Or is everybody more partial to the Great Clips/Sports Clips chains of the world?  What have you had more success with?

Personally, I've always just gone to Great Clips, but I could be doing it wrong.

I would like to find a real barber shop......any Topeka area EMAW'rs have a recommendo??

don't think there really is one in Topeka except for some on the East side  (picture a Tyler Perry movie) or the one in the Bank of America building, if it's still there.
