I go to a legit barber shop.

Comes with a neck shave and a shoulder rub

I receive the scalp massage, but not the neck shave...at least not right now. May have to negotiate.

Recently converted to real barbershop. Would not go anywhere else. It's just great. Had 'em take the neck shave way down and knock off some of my upper back beast hair too. Felt great.

I almost always go with a temp fade. However, I've been growing it out and now it's more than a THREE guard. So I said hell with it, give me a high fade down to bald. I should have a pretty solid high top come april. These fools at work will not know what to do with me!

Never paid for a haircut in my life. Mom was a hairdresser so I've been letting her do her thing for free, when she dies I'm screwed

Recommend Village Hairstyling in the Prairie Village shopping center.  Old fashioned barber shop.  Legit.

Do you guys like going to the legit barber shops complete with the red, white and blue striped barber pole thingies?  Or is everybody more partial to the Great Clips/Sports Clips chains of the world?  What have you had more success with?

Personally, I've always just gone to Great Clips, but I could be doing it wrong.

I would like to find a real barber shop......any Topeka area EMAW'rs have a recommendo??

Well, I got my haircut today. I think I like it. Time will tell. The cutter was not a great conversationalist. But that's not what I paid her for. May go back..may not.

sounds like you had what many call a "bad experience" - there's plenty of other fish in the sea with clippers, though.  maybe it'll get better, maybe not.

maybe like ten years ago you had your last bad haircut that left you looking like a beatle and then just shaved your head and had your girlfriend cut your hair from then on out, not caring what it looks like.  i guess we'll see what your fate is though

my friend just asked me tonight if there was anywhere in topeka that he could get a straight razor shave at.  please answer this question too.

my haircut tonight was pretty amazing.  looks just perfect as always, and i detest conversation while getting my hair cut so it was nice and silent.  A+ experience.

Dear gE.c,

I need a new one. The problem is my hair is thick and bushy so I usually cut it very short to avoid the hassle. But I'm a grownup now and I want a real hair style. What do I do?

Print out a picture of Ryan Gosling and bring it to the barber.

His hair is clearly not thick and bushy. Mine stands straight up if it gets too long. Also I have dark hair. Basically eff you ben ji, I want to be Ryan Gosling too but I can't.

I haven't gotten a haircut in five months.  It was short but now it's medium.  Lettin' it flow, you know.
