Soundbreaking: Stories from the Cutting-Edge of Recorded Music

this was really, really, really well done.  PBS aired it.  unfortunately I don't see it scheduled to be rebroadcast anytime soon but it is available on Amazon for $7 for all 8 episodes, an easy cop

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Kiss the Ground on Netflix was very interesting. I wonder if rusty knows anything about how they implement the city-wide food waste composting program in SF...seems like the kind of thing that could and probably should be done in any city.

Plus! bonus: in the first 5 minutes there is some powercat sightings. 6.5/7

plus by the end it really makes you want to do something, whereas sometimes you finish a doc and you're just like "well this sucks we're all screwed!"

Part one was crap, I still have 2 and 3 on the DVR. I hate the crap out of that idiot, he's a really interesting choice for a documentary subject. No one knows who the hell he is and he isn't very notorious outside of being a really unlikable poser bad person.

I was disappointed by Free Britney. I'm sure some of it had to do with me listening to a 5 part podcast on her in January, but I should have known that twitter would have overblown how good the doc was and how poorly people treated her. JT definitely did her dirty though, outside of that radio interview, the rest of it was just some crap that people in their 20's do when they break up.

Circling back to this since I'm now done learning about how Woody Allen raped his daughter and he was enabled by hollywood, CNN, and the NYC media.

A lot of these people they are interviewing are full of crap, especially this Adam 22 dude, the bald white guy with all the tattoos. I don't think this doc was made for people with knowledge of hip hop culture from 5 years ago. I can't finish this if these people don't stop exaggerating.

Just watched. It was fine. Mrs. 8mp, who is in the absolute prime Britney demographic, enjoyed it more.

Yeah, agree, just fine. It was good enough to interest me in the rest of the NYT series, but I don't have Hulu without commercials so I don't want to invest the time.

Did anyone else watch Down To Earth with Zac Efron?  It was IMO, not very good.  Some cool places but I honestly had no idea what they were doing most of the time.

The Last Blockbuster - I didn't think it was particularly good, but I still enjoyed it for nostalgic reasons. Still, I definitely don't miss Blockbuster as much as the people in this documentary.

Momentum Generation - I enjoyed this way more than I ever thought I would. It was focused on Kelly Slater and a lot of other professional surfers. It was partly about surfing, but they also had interesting lives and were very honest and sharing in the interviews. You probably won't watch this because it's a documentary about surfers, but I think you would enjoy it if you watched it.

The Day Sports Stood Still

I watched this earlier tonight!

Not gonna lie, I got a little emotional at the beginning.

The Day Sports Stood Still

This was very well made. Even though we know the story it was still very intriguing. I have watched two documentaries and listened to three different podcasts about this before I watched this documentary and this was far and away the most informative, entertaining, and emotional of all of them.

Chris Paul and his people really did a great job.

The Day Sports Stood Still

I was faced last night so I didn't provide a review about this documentary. There was nothing shared that we didn't already know. Also, half of the documentary was about the very public stand that athletes took following the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. It was a good watch and KC Chief Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was featured for about 10 seconds.
