Unavoidable for the sports fan, then again I'm not an ESPN hater.  They do some things great, they do somethings horribly awful.  Comes with the territory of having such a large organization.

the problem isn't losing the awards themselves...the problem is when you see us lose the award, you think, "well, we don't deserve it after the baylor loss," and then it's like losing the baylor game all over again.

My anger over Klein losing the Davey O'Brien hasn't gotten any better 24 hours later.  Complete travesty, no chance the voters looked at or even cared about the voting criteria of the award.

Depends on your interpretation of the criteria "whether a person has achieved performance that warrants consensus All-America level status".  If you think "has achieved performance that warrants" is a fancy way of saying "is", then no.
 

If you think it is purposely worded vaguely to allow for "they weren't a consensus All-American, but they subjectively played well enough to warrant it" to allow for cases like this season to get Klein up there, then I guess they have a shot. 


I'm in the camp that  probably wrote the criteria, so the only interpretation of the criteria that matters depends on how  is feeling in 5 years.
