God knows the next time Kansas State will have this good of an opportunity to play for all the marbles.

In 2015 our senior class will include Daniel Sams, Travis Britz, Morgan Burns, Deante Burton, a Gronkowski, Demonte Hood, Mike Moore, Marquel Bryant, a Cantele kicker, a Klein, Boston Stiverson, Cody Weber, and Stan Weber.

In 2014 those guys will be juniors with a senior class including Randell Evans, BJ Finney, Tyler Lockett, Ryan Mueller, Demarcus Robinson, Curry Sexton, Zach Trujillo, and Jonathan Truman.

I'm not saying they will be the level of this team, but if Demarcus figures it out, that's a damn good base to compete for Dr. Peppers and a chance to get in the 4 team playoff.  Alot of those young defensive guys have been solid on ST this year.

I wasn't trying to make it sound like we were facing the prospect of losing seasons - there is definitely enough talent on the roster to contend in the next few years.  But the stars were aligned for KSU this year and we couldn't capitalize.  The team stayed pretty healthy, manageable schedule, great senior leaders, great talent at key positions, one of two eligible undefeated teams.  All of those circumstances happening again are what I am unsure about.

If the conference home/away keeps switching every other year, we will be set up for a great run in Sams' senior year. All the teams that are generally competing for Big 12 Championships will be at home.

I don't think it has been mentioned enough but we won the confy playing 5/9 games on the road.

But when expansion is upon us, all bets are off RE: location of games. I agree w/Shacks. This year was a "stars & planets" aligned kind of deal. I sure HOPE Coach Snyder (or his successor) can lead us there again AND that our team takes advantage of it. At least one K-State national championship during my lifetime, that's all I'm asking.  :emawkid:
I'm in it purely for the entertainment value.

The increase in crowd noise for the Dev K-S-U was a huge surprise to me. The 50 and 60 year olds around me were losing their minds.

Jump Around was the happiest I've seen my dad in the last 10 years.

I wasn't at the legendary OU-punt block game, so I can't judge that one.  But the loudest sustained cheer I've heart at the Bill was after Snyder came back and beat KU.  That was a moment where a lot of 'Cat fans felt like the the sins of the Ron Prince era were washed away and 'Cats fans let out a sustained, turgid cheergasm bathed in full- blooded EMAW.

Truman is an underrated beast on special teams. When him and tre-fitty are seniors weekside lb will be stacked

On a positive note, props to the band director. That guy doesn't give a eff. I'm amazed we haven't been fined by the Big XII for playing when both teams have broken the huddle. He pushes the limit. Good on him.

I like him too, but I believe the band doesn't have to STFU until the opposing offense is on the LOS.  Can any ex-band members confirm/deny?

Confirmed.  It would have to be crazily egregious for the Big XII to step in.  OU's band pushes the boundaries much more than ours.

Finally this gets mentioned. Granted I wasn't there on Saturday and only attended games from 2008-11 but that game was super loud. Girl I know that lived in the Woodway apts said her apartment windows were shaking after the game.

The only game I ever caught from the NEZFZ was '99 Mizzou.  Confirmed gets very loud down there on the field...what a fun day.

I'm 34, been season ticket holder for years along with the parents, aunt/uncle, we still have the same seats in section 5 from when the stadium 1st opened back in the 60's through my late grandparents.  Definitely cheered louder when Willie was on the Dev. Wasn't at that 'famous' game due to a commitment while in the Marines, but knew the significance.

Other loud games and comment on shivvycats comment:

1) Obviously the 4OT win last year against the aTm conference quitters.
2) Brandon Archer INT for a TD to give K-State the go-ahead score when Snyder first retired, last game, against Mizzou and Finkel.  I think we won that like 36-34 or something.
3) The game against USC in '02.  Had to google it to remember if it was 01 or 02, but it was the game Newman returned a blocked field goal or PAT.  That USC team had a ton of future NFLers.
4) KState 45-42 over Texas...it was RP's either 1st or 2nd year, I forget, but do remember how cold it was that night.  Stadium was loud that night.

student section etc:
Does anyone else agree/acknowledge the psychology of fandom and that fans have to "learn how to win" and what's expected, just like players/teams have to 'learn to win'???

Sometimes when a program is "down," kids/students (not hating here, just opining) don't quite know how to act in terms of getting loud when the opposing team has the ball.  Just something I've observed last few years watching the program fall/rise.  We don't have decade after decade of tradition like some programs in that respect and I think there is some truth to this.

I'm guilty of going out and having a beer or so at the half but I'm always back in my seat in section 19, or with my dad in section 5 for the 3rd qtr.

I don't care how loud/not loud it was, there was a vibe to the place that I'd never felt there before.  Not better/worse than some of those Nub/OU games, just different.  And it felt good.  Really, really good.

This. The second half and the post game was an awesome scene.

Definitely agree with that.

The "conference title is coming" feeling throughout the stadium was really amazing. After the big throw to Lockett and a 2 score lead it really started to hit.

I also think that fans feel a much closer connection to these players than they have had in the past. Personally I don't think I have loved a team of players more than I do this year. I would venture to say that this is Bill's favorite team even though he will never admit it.

I think it was one of those things were you are pulling for someone so hard and things haven't gone perfectly but in the end you are still so proud of what they have accomplished.

For me the second half was the loudest two quarters I have ever been a part of, definitely the loudest KSU chant.

There is a rule, I don't know what, but I do know Dr. Tracz has always pushed the limit with this.  He believes in making noise.

Cool story bro:  At the '95 Holiday Bowl, the K-State drumline trolled the Colorado State drumline enough to where the refs called a penalty on them.  Was epic, many high fives.

Entire K-State drumline all hit their drums at the same time once "BOOM", and waited while staring over at the Colorado State band.  Waited a minute, no response.  Did it again.  After 3 or 4 tries the CSU drumline got the idea and did the same thing back.  So then K-State does it hitting all the drums twice, "BOOM BOOM".  CSU responds with 3 hits.  K-State with 4.  This escalates to about 10.  CSU goes to 11, K-State just sits there and stares, no response.  CSU does 11 again.  K-State, no response.  CSU just goes nuts with it and boom, refs call a 5 or 10 yard penalty on Colorado State due to the band.  Hilarity ensued.

Good post. Most people probably won't understand what the hell you are talking about but I noticed it too. Kinda felt like what had arrived a bit. The place was very loud but also more confident than years past. Not just angry and insecure, like before.
