You guys think that loss to Baylor was tough, try being an Auburn alum and having your team go from National Champ to absolutely friggin terrible, in two years.

But now, we're free! Chizik has been fired and things are looking up at Auburn

Back to watching some good football on the plains.

Everything is up in the air right now. People keep mentioning Petrino for one of these SEC jobs and I swear I will be so disappointed if we hire him. He's the one guy who I would rather see Chizik stay, than hire. He was an ex-OC at Auburn.

Malzahn is also being mentioned, which I could live with. I hate the spread but it would allow Auburn to get different players than Bama and he's done a hell of a job at Ark State. OC during championship season.

I think we need a discipline guy, we have insane talent from consistently great recruiting classes, we just didn't do any coaching of the kids.

We have a program at Auburn where we try to reach out and troll other fan boards. Plus, my Widespread Panic fan board is getting a little boring lately :( I thought you might like a SEC perspective from someone who has grown out of the "football dictates my emotions all year" guy.

Petrino's latest scandal, plus his history of bolting whenever he can, is a no go for me and the large majority of Auburn fans.

Auburn went 13-0 with Chizik as DC (the year we were left out of the NC game, when OU got creamed by USC). He then turned that into a DC job at Texas, where they won the Natty with Vince Young. His defense was terrible in that game. He then went to Iowa State and did nothing and for some reason we hired him and he just happened to have Fairley go nuts and land Newton :shrug

How smart do those guys who were booing Chizik when he arrived on campus feel right now? Just think about how well off Auburn would be if they had PI'd Chizik enough to take another job right after winning the NC.

Just read the SI write up on this. they said the guy doing the booing wanted Turner Gill rather than Gene.
