I just went to the store and the entire hostess rack was empty, except for those horrible orange, big, filled cupcake things.  That little section of the rack was still full.

Did the CEO and the executives give themselves a raise or did they restructure their compensation package (i.e. much higher base pay, but much lower incentive pay/stock options/other compensation)?  I have no idea, but I have a hard time believing their board would approve those drastic increases in total compensation if they were at risk of shutting down operations.  I also have a very hard time believe that a bankruptcy judge would allow those increases in total compensation if they did it during the bankruptcy.

If I were faced with an 8% pay cut, I would find a new job. eff that. That said, this is hilarious on every level. From the company shutting down operations over a strike, to a union getting called out, to a bunch of dumbasses buying out twinkies from store shelves.

I agree, but LOL at a company that is so poorly run it can't even sell junk food to obese Americans.

I saw a box of Twinkies at a relative's house today. I suggested we freeze dry them and immediately advertise them for sale on EBay. I got no takers...just hope that they would not be stale for breakfast in the morning.

Losers.

Yes. Mormon sugar benders are a good time. My boss also told them to google all the "Twinkie parties" going on back in the states once they got home and weren't using a work laptop.

The buyout company that has been running them is sort of like Bain Capital, just run by big Dem donors.  They were fine with the payouts, and will now sell off the brands and plants and get their money back.  The Emporia and Lenexa plants reopen (they made about 50% of the profits overall for the company - from the plants that were profitable).  A bunch of old, non-profitable facilities will go away across the country.

The 8% pay cut wouldn't have been fun, but no job is more sucky.  Especially since strikers are ineligible for unemployment.  Should have took the offer then looked for another gig.
