I never expected these racial stereotypes to come from Beems. I'm disappointed. :*(

Snyder has said publicly that Sams has had a tough time understanding the offense (similar to Bishop).  He's more of an athlete right now than a QB.  I've heard Waters will probably be the starter anyway.

link?

Heard it on 810 sports radio with BITB a few weeks ago.  BITB said that Snyder told some alums at a catbacker event (or whatever it's called) that Sams was an incredible athlete and had a great arm, but his grasp of the offense is coming along a little slower than Waters.  Then there's this from cjonline:

http://cjonline.com/sports/2013-04-11/quarterback-battle-under-way-k-state

Quote
In simplistic terms, Sams is regarded as the better runner and Waters the better passer, leading Iowa Western to a national championship when he was the NJCAA offensive player of the year, passing for 3,501 yards and 39 touchdowns with a 73-percent completion rate.

“Jake is a very bright young guy and picks things up quickly,” Snyder said. “He has spent the study time and asks questions.

“His learning curve has gone like that,” Snyder said, pointing upward. “There's so much to learn and we have such a broad package and he's really made some headway. He hit a stone wall in our scrimmage (Wednesday) because that was really his first time to do that, but he's made us very aware of the fact he's done his homework.”

It's not even an intelligence thing when it comes to the offense... it's more of just an instinctive QB mentality to make quick decisions and anticipate the receiver's routes.  According to Stan Weber, Waters is a little quicker with his release and his anticipation of routes.

Even if beems is trolling, a lot of big 12 fans need to understand the difference between "he can't throw" vs "he doesn't have to throw" underneath a Snyder system.

Teams will stack the box if K-State can't throw.  Who are your threats at the receiver position to keep defenses honest?  Lockett?

This kid: http://www.kstatesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/deante_burton_810990.html  is better than the McCay transfer, just FYI.

Plus, we actually have a serviceable OL in front of our signal caller.  Your skill position kids basically become next to worthless when your guys in the trenches are pathetic losers.

So, according to the consensus here at goEMAW, K-State football is on cruise control?  10+ win seasons and back-to-back-to-back Big 12 titles are the norm now?

Just trying to get a sense for what we're dealing with here.

No.  It's that the roster at ku is just a joke vis-a-vis the one in Manhattan.

Sams doesn't understand the offense yet, and he's got a flat trajectory on his passes.  I have my doubts whether or not he can play QB at this level.  Waters will probably be the starter anyways.  All I'm saying is that K-State has quite a few question marks next year as well.

K-State will most likely have the better team again next year, but I do think that KU is closing the gap a little bit.  Heaps was the #1 QB in his recruiting class, and he'll be going into next year with over a year of experience within KU's system.  Word on the street is that Heaps would have started last year if he had been eligible.  Then you've got Darius Miller teaming up with Sims and Pierson again on offense, along with a 4-star, national top 50 recruit in 2010 (McCay).  Throw in the #1 overall juco recruit on defense (Combs) and some other studs, and you're damn right I'm excited about KU football moving forward.

good post beems, you guys will be better for sure. but i dont think heaps is the answer, wasnt crist a top rated qb out of high school?

Right? You would think after living on the west coast and in Lawrence (basically a west coast city stuck in the midwest) he would think more progressively than this.

Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

It's a mystery.  If Chaz can integrate the juco's into the roster, ku will look a lot different this year.  Someone help me out, what % of juco's that LHCBS recruits get significant playing time?

You'd think Beems wouldn't use the talking point of "he was the best ranked QB coming out of hs" after what happened with Crist.

ku isn't going to be worse than they were last year and have some talent in their backfield

unfortunately for them, weis isn't the answer and will suffer from the same problems that turner gill did.  neither can coach.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Never so many in a single class.  Believe me, we went over and over that when Ron did it, and I was one the first ones in the front of the line calling Ron a rough ridin' dumb ass for it.

Weis has five commitments in the '14 recruiting class, and none of them are jucos.  KU loaded up last year because we need immediate help at several key positions, and jucos are usually more ready to contribute right away than high school prospects.

one of these juco kids is going to murder charlie weis (lesbian), and then what for ku?  will they be able to maintain the success they've had that's led them to have an overall edge in wins/losses over their cross state non-rival k-state cats?  only time will tell, bros

Link please?  This really hasn't proven to be the case for as long as we've been bringing in a a half dozen juco kids per year...

Only Weis and Prince have been dumb enough to bring in more than a dozen in the same class.  Sets a program back 2-3 years easily.

What?  Are you calling those great classes that Gill recruited garbage.  I thought they were so much better than Synder's.  :surprised:

Are we really going to have a debate about whether or not true freshmen are more ready to contribute than juco prospects?  Some of you guys are simply incapable of having an honest discussion with a KU fan.
