The Tulsa Race Riot was a large-scale racially motivated conflict on May 31 and June 1, 1921, in which whites attacked the black community of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It resulted in the Greenwood District, also known as 'the Black Wall Street'[1] and the wealthiest African-American community in the United States, being burned to the ground. During the 16 hours of the assault, over 800 people were admitted to local hospitals with injuries, and more than 6,000 Greenwood residents were arrested and detained at three local facilities.[2] An estimated 10,000 blacks were left homeless, and 35 city blocks composed of 1,256 residences were destroyed by fire. The official count of the dead by the Oklahoma Department of Vital Statistics was 39, but other estimates of black fatalities have been up to about 300.[2]

Fisher's tale doesn't exactly have the gravity of Linda Brown walking a mile out of her way to attend school because the state of KANSAS saw black people as racially inferior to white people, but for some critics of affirmative action it's almost the same thing. After all, half of white people in the United States see racism against whites as just as much of a problem as racism against minorities.

Thank God I'm from a state that actually embraces the Melting Pot that is the United States.  Some of the horrifying things I've read about Kansas this morning makes me happy I won't be at the game Saturday.  I'm not afraid for our players on the field but I truly fear for the lives of our non-white athletes as long as they are inside Kansas borders. 

Hopefully they can get a quick win and get the hell out of there ASAP.

They include two Ku Klux Klan groups, a black separatist church, a black separatist network, a neo-Confederate ministry, a white nationalist organization and a neo-Nazi group.

While police have not said whether the Tulsa shootings are considered a hate crime, they come at a time of rising racial passions in the wake of the shooting death of unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida.

Martin, who was black, was shot by a neighborhood watch captain who is white and Hispanic.
