i'm interested in hearing from everyone's take on last night's offense versus what we saw out of frank.

what are the similarities you noticed, differences?

Dunno, not good at ID'ing/explaining offenses.  I did notice that they didn't use as many slip screens for the bigs.  Anyone else?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

As I mentioned in the scrimmage thread a lot of the basics are the same.  People acting like Weber and the motion offense is a reinvention of the wheel is going to be the death of me.  You learn motion offense as early as middle school and virtually everyone runs some form or another of it.  This offense is very similar to the non pinch post Frank offense; pass go away, flex cuts, pick and seal, etc.

To see a real earnest change to the look of the offense Weber will need to change the personnel.  You astutely mentioned why Frank recruited guards the way he did, well that has quite a bit to do with what oscar is going to run as well.  The offense isn't going to for instance be a spread and pop offense because we don't have the players to run such an offense.

MiR you're exactly right, i was just baiting the people who were posting a month ago about how upset they were that we were now stuck with "oscar's offense" because i'm sure some were the same who were defending frank's.
oh man burn on them!

It's an exhibition game.  I though we looked good, but its not very informative. (This is not to imply that I think we will be bad, if we had played poorly I would have also said its not informative.)  I would glad to answer any specific questions you have, but I can't affect being a basketball evaluating guru.  I more look at stats and numbers.

It's the easy thing to do around here to hate on Sprads but my god, if he gets significant minutes this year it will hurt our team. He is a shooting guard that can't shoot.

Side Note:  Bob Chipman is starting to look old. I always thought he's looked the same for like the last 30 years but then I saw him last night and I was like, man, he's starting to look old.

It will be fun to trip over to Manhattan to catch that 2nd round NIT game this year. Manhattan is beautiful in the spring.

Was just thinking about this some more.  He may have looked older because he shaved his mustache. Sometimes that makes people look older.

I was freaked out by how old he looked, but then I realized it was a ghoulish spook-o-ween getup.

we were fine after bill, mike, denis, and jake.  this team would be a disaster without rod or angel.
