Question for Star Wars dorks and nerds and dweebs (jk):  How can this movie live up to the hype?  I can't recall a more anticipated movie.  Does it even really need to be very good, or will not sucking balls like those 3 recent ones be enough to satiate you?  Just curious what your expectations are.

If it's not the best in the series, I'll be disappointed.

this is going to be great by all accounts, real director, real script, giant budget.

So do I avoid this thread starting tomorrow until I see the movie after the New Year or are we going to keep it spoiler free?

I just can't understand why people hype star wars up so much.  Average McMediocreson is what I call it.

Guys, I haven't gotten to see Star Wars yet. I feel like I am missing a big reveal that you all know about....like all those people who didn't know that Vader was Luke's father for a while.

I haven't seen it either.  I've had to put my headphones in several times already this morning because everyone is talking about it :frown:

I feel like that fact is too ingrained in pop culture to be be valid anymore.  FreundinSonntag swore she'd never seen any of the movies (thought i did find out she'd seen multiple screenings of Ewoks: The Battle for Endor upon seeing an Ewok in RotJ) but watching the first one she says "That guy's Luke's father, right?"
