What would be best for KSU's NC chances?
« on: October 29, 2012, 05:16:21 PM »
Do you guys think it would be better for Tech or Texas to win this week?  I think Tech has a chance of winning out and finishing with 2 losses this year while Texas obviously has their annual KSU loss looming.  So Tech could potentially be a top 10 team near the end of the season with losses only to top 10 KSU and OU (presumably).  Or they could be a top 15 team and have three losses while Texas is the same.  So three top 15 wins for KSU or two top 10 wins?  Anyone been working this out?  Obviously a lot has to fall the Wildcats' way this season, particularly USC doing what Oklahoma couldn't.  Not sure if I see the Irish losing in which case everyone jumping to conclusions about them jumping KSU might not have anything to fear either - KSU is playing better opponents than ND and their one constant win (Oklahoma) is only top 12-15 material.

OU beating ND would have been best for KSU's NC chances.

Way, WAAAAAAAAAY beter if Texas wins out...I'd like a win over a top 15/20 team on the last week of the season to be fresh in the voters/computers minds as opposed to an also ran at best fringe T25 team that will get overlooked.

Not sure about that any more. Don't think we would be #2 if they had lost,

Would want Texas to be as highly ranked as possible when we play them.

This. Everyone already forgot how good/decent Tech was/is. Destroying a Texas team that is cracking back into the top 15 (how they didn't drop out of the polls yet I'll never know, but I'll take it), the night before final votes are due? Could be crucial.

The only problem with this is that Texas sucks ass. They are not a good football team. Ideally yes. Realistically, I don't think Texas can win out.

They've got @Tech, ISU, TCU before they play us. If they can somehow get past Tech they should beat ISU and TCU at home. SHOULD.

The best thing for KSU's NC chances if for KSU to beat Okie Light saturday.
Free edge up to defensive starters when opponents held under 10.

We need as many teams to win out as possible. Tech and OU will do that without any major competition left on their schedule (meaning Tech will beat UT). We need some of the mediocre teams to start separating themselves, but I don't know if that's going to happen. OSU will probably only win a couple more games, WVU will lose to OU, so hopefully they can move up after that.

All of the lower half Big 12 teams need to keep losing and the upper half big 12 teams need to keep winning. The more teams that finish ranked the better.

Best case scenario for Tech/Texas is Texas wins a close game with both teams looking good. I think tech can hang on and stay ranked. It wouldn't hurt for WVU to start looking like a good team again.
