Definitely a KSU battered wife here. Definitely. No lie. But every single pundit in the whole wide universe is talking about how Oregon fans need to calm down because they haven't played any teams that are worth a crap yet and when they do they will jump us in the compies back to their rightful position as the second-best team in the country.

Yeah, those guys are morons who don't understand that Colorado and Cal will hurt Oregon in the computers as much as USC and Stanford help them. The computers see our remaining schedule being more difficult than Oregon's.

Ya I don't know why this isn't being talked about more tbh

But the Ducks play a 13th game in their conference championship game, and that would be enough to propel an undefeated Oregon team over a 12-0 Cats team.  That is why we need them to lose a game.  Also, I guarantee you that if KSU, Oregon and Alabama/Florida are all undefeated, ESPN will be cheerleaders for an Oregon/SEC title game, just like they were last year for a rematch.

Yeah.

There is lut'rully no one beside goEMAW.com posters who think that we will be in over an undefeated Oregon. Show me some.

You're right, there aren't any.  Only way that might happen is if USC, Stanford and Oregon State all flame out while OU, Tech, WVU and Texas finish ranked.

I do think it's a little ridiculous to worry about undefeated KSU getting left out in favor of a one-loss SEC team, which is the premise of this thread.  The BCS is a rough ridin' fraud, but even they're not absurd enough to leave out an undefeated team from the second toughest conference for another SEC rematch.

If Alabama has a close loss to Florida and Florida already had a close loss to someone, I could certainly see either K-State or Oregon (K-State) getting squished for Alabama.

Because I am paranoid and butthurt and snakebitten and kstatefansy at my core and it hurts.  :bawl:

Pretty sure I would murder every single pollster who voted a one-loss SEC team above an undefeated KSU if that happened.  It won't, though.  Last year's abomination of a title game had the lowest ratings ever for a championship game.  That alone should prevent bullshit like that from happening again.

You know I'm not talking about a Florida vs. Alabama rematch in the championship game, right?

Most years there are only two undefeated teams, or it's obvious which two should get in. There's a 99% chance all this stuff works out, and if we are undefeated, we would have an extremely good chance of getting in based on the past.

An absolute dream scenario would be for Florida to beat Bama and Oregon/Notre Dame lose so we can play Florida in the MNC. I think we would beat UF.

Just look at the BCS formula and how things stand right now. If Oregon and K-State both go undefeated, it's going to end up way too close to call at this point. Right now, Oregon is getting almost every 2nd place vote. K-State is getting mostly 4th place votes. If we go undefeated, the worst we will do is get all 3rd place votes. It's also very likely that we will end up with a lot of 2nd place votes. Oregon cannot gain ground in the human polls unless Alabama loses and they start getting 1st place votes.

Oregon plays an awful schedule. They have absolutely no chance at moving above us in the computer rankings. Where they end up depends largely on what the teams on their schedule do. If USC loses to Notre Dame and then Oregon beats them twice, the computers will not see USC as anything more than a mediocre team.

I really like our chances unless Oregon gets 1st place votes in the human poll and Florida finishes undefeated.

This is entirely possible btw.   :barf:
