The complete lack of gimmick plays (except for "The Play") is a pleasant surprise. I don't even recall if we ran the Wildcat with a RB taking the snap all year. No rb's or wr's throwing the ball. It is awesome just to see this group line up and play without the gimmicks!

it would be pretty stupid because our QB is one of our best runners and any RB we put in there would be a worse passer than our QB

But I'd really like to see CK catch a TD.

Yes, which makes it a pleasant surprise. Pease in the Wildcat last year would not be any different than Pease in the Wildcat this year. I didn't like it last year and I am pleasantly surprised I don't have to watch it this year.

We haven't run the Wildcat one time.

You can see Snyder's confidence in what we do; our main running game is power/lead with a few options mixed in. Nice mix of play action pass and drop back pass. Very few gadgets, even fairly conventional ones like reverses, let alone toss passes or anything like that. Plus the amount that he let's Klein check plays at the line of scrimmage is more than I've seen from any K-State QB, maybe Beasley was the other one that checked as often as Klein does.

I don't recall Beasley checking anywhere near this much.

I feel like Hubes got faster this season.
Also stronger, seems like he has ran thru more tackles this half season than he did all of last year.

I really thought he have would have a hard time improving from what he was last year - a good back that seemed hit a ceiling against high quality defenses.   Then he goes out and does what he did against OU

sams lines up behind ck in the pistol.  ck shifts to tight end.  the ball is quickly snapped to sams who rolls out right and hits ck in the corner of the end zone to pull ahead of bama with less than a minute left in the 4th quarter.

Guys, it would be way easier to list the things/players that aren't pleasant surprises.

Harper, Malone, and Arthur are about exactly as awesome as I thought they would be.

This is incorrect.  While the Oline wasn't really expected to be a strength, no one really thought that Dickey would field a front 5 full of respects.  However, MANY people were  :ohno: about the Dline.

Denied. The oline is much bigger than the dline. Have you seen Lucas? Meshak is great, but he and the other dlinemen are not nearly as big, surprise or otherwise, as the olinemen.

1) Defensive line, especially interior.
2) Offensive tackles.
3) Milo
4) Tuggle's transition.
5) Hubert's improvement.

Before the season I thought the biggest thing that would take this team from good to great was the play of both lines.

ICBL could be a good candidate for Sams' nickname in 2013, though I would make the L stand for #Life instead of laser.

we haven't had a big WTF play on offense or defense.

We also haven't had an impact player injured.  And this scares the crap out of me.

Unless Snyder really is a wizard, it's unimaginable that a team could go the entire season without an injury or a WTF play on offense or defense.
