Remember back to 98 and to this team, and the 2003 squad. The 2003 and 98 teams seem to play like our hair was on fire and just out played everyone, we felt invisible. When we hit a tough patch it fell apart.

This 2012 squad just seem like it is a business meeting every game. Go out do what needs to be done. If something does not go right, we fix it and don't make issues affect us.

it's ridiculous. and, as chingon pointed out, this is by far the toughest schedule Bill has ever had. the big 12 is really good. and we play everyone in the conference. and we play 5 conference games on the road.

The talent we have at receiver is just ridiculous. Little sweet tiny baby Lockett, Thompson, Harper. I'd take those 3 over any in the nation right now. I probably take the skill guys as a whole over the 98 team.

I think everyone is still trying to make sense of how 98 turned out and at the same time convince themselves that it can't/won't/shouldn't happen this time around. it's important because people need to feel like they won't get hurt again before they allow themselves fully buy in. seems like people who say this aren't trying to convince anyone else. they're trying to convince themselves.  the fact is this collection of players is nowhere near as talented (accept maybe wr), but may very well be a better team because they play smart and disciplined. if 98 was the hare, then 2012 is the tortoise.

I don't know which team is better, but I can tell you that this season is way different because of 1998. In 1998, I went to every home game and the Dr. Pepper. I continually thought that we could win the MNC that year, but didn't realize how important it was  because we had never been in that position before. Watching it fall through our hands and onto the turf in St. Louis was crushing, and the realization that it was over was shocking. Having experienced that makes this season more special. I am really enjoying every game and I don't want it to end, even though I believe the end is a crystal trophy in Manhattan, KS with a stop off in Dr. Pepper land. My wife and kids were laughing at me during the second half this weekend because I could not stop smiling.

Agree 100%.  It doesn't seem like to me that this team has lost their composure during the season to this point.
