I don't know why we used Federal troops to occupy that part of Virginia :dubious:

Figured you'd be a little flinchy at pictures of standing water but I took the chance that you'd be able to tough it out.

How the hell is is possible for West Virginia to be a worse state than North Dakota?  Both have: crushing isolationism, environmental devastation, uneducated masses, piss-poor worker safety laws, ugly people, unintelligible dialects, criminal corporate negligence endangering public health, and more environmental devastation.  I guess North Dakota is balls cold, and West Virginia used to have epic landscapes and wildlife habitats... until they let it all get raped.  And North Dakota isn't even technically a state.

Oh yeah, nodaks love their space aliens.  And it's a pretty big bummer- they've been ripping up the whole western part of the state for coal, oil, and gas, including the badlands and a lot of the state protected and even some federally protected areas.  So much for that.  Funny thing is, driving through these areas all I could think of was "these people ignored the West Virginia lesson."

WTF is up with the shape of their state? It's like someone dropped a dinner plate and this was the big chunk that didn't shatter. They've got that little sliver of land on top, but managed to squeeze in 4 rough ridin' counties  Plus look at the weird part on the east side! It must have been deemed unsuitable for the high class people in Maryland.

Mingo county?  Isn't that a derogatory name for the Seneca-Cayugas?

We need one of our Land Grab'r OU Sooner pals to weigh in on this.   :dubious:
