i overwhelmingly prefer my shortened name for most of my daily life, but use my full first name for publishing and other career-related things.
Best of both worlds j-von. If he's tiny you can just call him Ant.My best friends call me Jake, but everyone else calls me Jacob. I will not correct either. I like them both.
<----Go by shortened version.Actually a lot of people call me "DLew" off the board.
I'm not a fan of people that go by their middle name. Don't try and run from your embarrassing first name. Embrace it.
or nickname. Usually weirdos and/ or creepy. Example Steven > Steve, Matthew > Matt, etc. these people are weird.
My family named me after a candy bar. Everybody else can GTFO!

Strangely enough at work I'm initials guy. Far too many Michaels for that to work.

What goes on your business card isn't the same as what people call you in conversation. I actually went by my middle name, which my parents decided since it's a kind of sick tradition. I have since said GTFOMF with that junk and now go by my legal first name.
