I saw a cooking show (Good Eats, maybe?) and they explained what not to do when making them to avoid the whole onion slipping out after one bite.  Can't remember what the trick was though.  Also, has anyone ever seen the fat grams and sodium in an awesome blossom/blooming onion thing?!  Guess thats what make em so :lick:

Why is there always one fry in the order of onion rings? I think it's jealousy, not hate.

It goes:

1. Tots
2. Onion Rings
3. Fries

To answer your original question 'clams, yes, fries hate onion rings because fries are very insecure.

when you think of the big 3, tots, rings, and fries, it really is hard to envision a world where they get along with each other.  i imagine they're continuously infighting, trying to secure a better position for themselves.

best rings in kc?  gosh.  winsteads or okie joes.

best tots in kc?  talk of the town

best tots in MHK?  well it used to be texas star w/a side of gravy.  but who knows anymore.  suggestions from mhk townies are welcome in this thread.

best fries in kc?  gates or okie joes

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Was it dipping the onion ring in corn starch before battering it?

I hate it when I take a bite and the entire onion slips out of the delicious breading

Do you throw the delicious breading away?

I hate when this happens and the molten hot onion flops onto your chin. This happens with so long fried pickles as well.

Guys, I just saw a recipe for apple rings with cinnamon dipping sauce.

Thinking that this could tear this thread completely apart and plan to try them as soon as I am finished unpacking the kitchen.

I like bloomin onions

Oh man I love bloomin onions, does anyone know of a place other than The Outback that does them?  The wife's non stop complaining about eating at The Outback really harshes my fried onion buzz.

If the alternative is a tater tot, then I will take that as a compliment.
