Apparently they were airing a car chase and the guy got out of the car and domed himself and they showed the whole thing on live tv.

in other news, experienced control room director looking for work, will travel.

What's the FCC fine for that? I'm kind of surprised the 7-second delay rule for live TV doesn't cover news.

they were on a delay, according to the anchor. someone didn't switch over fast enough. i doubt they'll get a fine. crap happens.

Whats the point of the delay if they don't follow through with cutting it and don't get fined? I'm shocked to hear myself say this, but I just don't think they're doing a very good job over there at Fox

If it bleeds it leads. Or in the case of Fox if its a completely innocuous car chase in Phoenix with little to no informational value then by all means cut away from your national broadcast to cover it.

If there is a high speed car chase on any news channel I will stop and watch that crap for as long as it takes until resolution. Love car chases. Do not love seeing people kill themselves. I also love dogs.

Yeah, he ran into a field, stopped, spent about 3 seconds pulling out the gun and putting it to his head, then falls over. No detail or anything, you just see his arm go to his head, then he falls over. It was filmed from a helicopter.

With the 7 second delay, they had about 10 seconds to cut away and failing, including 4 seconds of the host saying loudly "get off it". It was a split screen thing.

This is why I think cops should be more aggressive in police chases. This whole stay back at a safe distance bullshit is gonna lead to more tragic suicides. Now, if Riggs and Murtaugh were the cops, this guy would have gone out in a more dignified way like shooting out the tires and the car somersaults off a ravine or a hail of gunfire involving hostages. Probably catch phrases are said and some sweet sax riffs. That's the way this SHOULD have ended. Anyways, thoughts go out to the family of the dead.
