Gosh Darned UNT scouting report
« on: March 17, 2010, 12:23:47 PM »
Feel free to discuss North Texas and their team's style at anytime fellas. I've been waiting patiently for a couple days to read something, but it seems you're more innersted in the media infatuation with the powercats.

Seriously what tempo, what tendencies, what players, what do we expose, how do we win and most importantly, who do they compare with in other teams we've played?

* Strong but small point guard
* Big dude down low
* Smaller yet stronger forwards

What else?

Wow, those podcasts actually have content?  This is the first one I've listened to.  Honestly I just expected them to be a bunch of random insidery references and jokes.  Kind of surprised there is, you know, HBBIQ analysis.  Bravo sir(s).

It's a little different. Type out some quick tips, points of emphasis. Beat writers, sports journalists and pundits love to rehash their tidbits. Why only say it once?

Plus it's rough ridin' one day until the biggest tournament I've ever been apart of in my ksu fan days. Forgive my enthralledness.

The only thing you need to expose is your gaping rectums because struggling only makes it worse.

Isn't Asprilla from the Sun Belt?  He should lead the scouting report against these scrubs.  Will be a good way for him to practice his English.

Watched a little of their conf champ game.  They had to play out of their minds to beat whoever the f^ck it was they played.  One guy on their team posterized another dood then rolled his ankle.  Cool play, probably ESPN top 10.  They're like 6" shorter than us at every position.

Bring on Billy Donovan, his greasy hair and Eddie Munster widows peak, cuz da Catz are gonna roll

Freddy left FIU along time ago, way before Josh White got there.  Dude couldn't help scouting, plus, WE DONT NEED HELP.  Even if we play horrible...we still win by 15.

1. NT likes a high pace game (ave around 70 per) and will push when they have a chance, with PG White leading the way.

2. NT's strength on offense is attacking the rim and drawing fouls.  They are #1 in the country at getting to the line (FT rate) and have 5 guys with 100 or more attempts.

3. NT has two solid interior players in Odufuwa and Tramiel.  Odufuwa is one of the leading rebounders in the country, but is not great at creating his own shots.  Tramiel is sort of a JamSam type, but undersized.

4. NT is not a great shooting team and their biggest threats are White and Thompson.  Those two will look for shots, but most others won't.

5. NT is solid on defense, mainly in man to man.  Not a pressure team and they won't force many TOs.  Sort of play like ISU here.

6. White is a key player, but a small guard.  We should be able to take advantage of that, and after him they don't have a lot of guys that can handle the ball.

If we pressure the ball and take advantage of our inside depth we should pull away fairly early and win big.  If we allow then to draw fouls and get us into foul trouble and let them run with us, we may let them make it a game.  I'm not expecting them to be able to manage some ridiculous shooting performance to beat us.

KSU_fan,

Thanks for the quick breakdown. That's exactly what I was looking for and gives me plenty of ammo to tell my wife at dinner tonight when she asks how my team will do tomorrow.

* I love your point about them not being a hot shooting/streaky type of team. Although BYU  :ohno: 's me in this respect.
* They almost mirror us in a lot of different ways. I've got to like us in this type of dirty and physical game.
* Sutton and Pullen will have a field day with steals and transition buckets.

That's all I needed and thanks ksufan. Also, frickin great podcast. I listened with amazement for the first time this year. You guys are really good for being basement noobs.
