Yes we started the season ranked higher than ND but iirc after they won their first 3 games they moved ahead of us and then we beat OU to move ahead of them.

ESPN's BCS Countdown last night said this is our first no. 1 BCS ranking. Were we only no. 1 in the AP or something in '98 after we beat Nebraska?

Yeah. We were #3 in the BCS rankings going into Big12 Championship game. UCLA and Tennessee were both ahead of us.

Tennessee was always BCS No. 1 that year, if I recall correctly.

So, under your system, when will K-State be eligible to win a national title? Will another 10 win season in 2012 set us up for a chance in 2013? Or do we need to wait for 2014?

It's not my system, it's reality. Kansas State would be eligible to play for a national title if they went undefeated next year. hth
