No options.

First game I have ever seen coached by LHC Bill Snyder without an option play.

I saw options, just not the kind 90's Snyder used.

never saw a QB to RB or QB keep. something I have seen Snyder do in every game at least once. never saw it in this game. not once.

I am sure the Stoops bros planned at least 25% of their D schemes for this, but never saw it.

i think they like the bullrushing of klein with the read-option as opposed to the run it out to the side and pitch it option just cause of the type of player klein is.  they probably didnt think it would work against ou anyway.

For all the good things CK can do, throwing a pitch is not one of them.

Just watched the 1st drive. The first 2 runs were zone read action in the backfield, but power football (pulling linemen) blocking schemes. 4th run was true zone read. Much of the time in 1 back shotgun/pistol sets we ran zone read action. I'll do a numbers breakdown of this game as far as schemes go as well as _FANframes.

There were some designed pass/run options.

We ran the zone read, Klein and Hubert couldn't beat OU to the corner on a pitch play any day of the week. Just saying.

We haven't seen the traditional veer package yet this year.  We saved that for OSU last year, no?  Probably waiting to break that out against WVU.  No way the newbies will see it coming.  I can just imagine their DC standing there, stunned, mouth agape....handfull of papers drops to the sideline from his paralyzed hand.   :horrorsurprise:

Boring to the normal eye.

I just finished charting the entire game (offensively) by formation and play call. We did all kinds of stuff in this game when you combine formation and play calls.

And back to the topic of this thread; it was really interesting to watch this game. We ran 4 true read plays and all were zone reads. However, we ran at least another 4 or 5 runs that were zone read back field action with zone or power run blocking schemes and another half dozen play action passes off of zone read action.

Breaking down this game is going to be a little ridiculous; Snyder/Dimel/Miller pulled out quite a few wrinkles. I plan to do a _FANalysis that just breaks down plays and formations/personnel plus probably 3 _FANframes; one for the passing game, one for the empty sets, and one for the running game. A win like this deserves plenty of attention.

Boring to the normal eye.

that's what i thought.  be careful with the breakdowns, btw.  you don't want to give weiss anything he wouldn't be able to find himself.
