I feel like this thread is a stealth extension of trim's OT: Hiring thread. We have all just been interviewed.

I see that now.  I'd been following these convoluted instructions: http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=22769.msg604394#msg604394

T-Y for pointing out a much simpler method than what that bad person posted.

I think I mumped stuff up in that service menu while fumbling through your generic instructions.  How do I reset all that crap?

um. lol.  uh oh.
there is some service menu stuff that you can't "reset" without having the original settings unique to your exact television written down somewhere.

In cycling through all the different levels of service menu stuff, I hit a button that changed one of the value instead of going to another level.  So it went from 0 to 1.  I kept pushing it until it would cycle back to 0 and it got to 15 and stopped.  The black background of that menu screen was getting lighter as I did it.  I can't tell anymore with all the rough ridin' around I've been doing on it whether there's any change when I've got Basketball Wives or whatever actually on the screen.  There does appear to be a small amount of flickering at times, but I don't know if that's from whatever janky lamp I put in or from whatever I did in the service menu or maybe the whole thing just needs to be moved out to JW's pool ASAP and replaced.

Could be a drunken project for LSOC and I tonight, but it'd have to be off the balcony right over where the goEMAW banner is.

would draw more attention to the banner as people look up to see where the TV originated from

It still works pretty well.  Maybe instead of tossing it, I'll get a bunch of cables and run them to the nicely-placed TV down on the street below the banner and have it playing fatty videos on a loop.

try unplugging the set, if you didn't save the change, it will revert to it's previous setting.

if that doesn't work you just need to find the "down" button, here's what i found-
1      item up
4      item down
3      data up
6      data down

found it!

Go into the service menu and using the navigation keys:
UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN
then go into the brightness settings
LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT
then exit out of the menu all together.  using the keys on the remote
B, A, START.

That should reset everything to factory defaults.

  Will try.

Went to the eastside best buy and yeah, the non-3D Sony sucks compared to the 3D one.  At least I'll get enough points with this whole thing to get a bunch of free 3D glasses.  :flush:

I don't think you can really compare televisions by display models. JMO.

Where did you get that overnight bag?

I thought that too, but I went to 2 different Best Buys and they had absolutely equal discrepancies between models.

Pretty small sample size.

Also they tend to make certain models look shitty on purpose

I had it narrowed down to 2 tvs and spent hours in best buy tweaking all their picture settings to make them look as good as possible before I finally decided.
